Behind EVERY Outstanding Handicapped Student…There’s a She

The amazing love of the mother, or rather, the mother-figure in someone’s life, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

Women Became Stronger as They’d Become Mothers! The Department of Education Commended the Outstanding in the High School Special Education field, including children with Downs’s Syndrome, putting on their art exhibitions, a person with osteogenesis imperfecta getting into Taiwan’s Technology University, a blind student getting his street performance certification, etc., etc., etc., behind each and every one of them, there is their mother, even grandmother who’d sold recycled materials, supporting them, so they’d become, bright shiny stars.

The last year high school student, Li with Downs’s Syndrome Held an Art Exhibition of His Work, His Mom: Never Give Up

The last year special ed student, Lin, was the second born of his family, and when he was born, he was diagnosed with Downs’s Syndrome, his mother, Tseng was very desperate at the beginning, even contemplated suicide. But she’d quickly, packed up all of her pessimisms, and asked for help from the Downs’s Syndrome Foundation, and after she’d learned about how another child with Downs’s Syndrome had won the gold medal in the swim meets of the special Olympics, she’d gotten that boost of confidence she’d needed.

Tseng suggested to all the parents with Downs’s syndrome children, to get their young involved in various activities, to help them develop their physical abilities, as well as their mentalities, too. Since Lin was younger, he’d tagged along his older sister to take up art, and he’d gotten several awards for his artwork in the national competitions, and had multiple exhibitions too, and sold his paintings, to help the less fortunate; at age seven, he’d taken up African drumming, and followed a band to perform; he’d also taken up rollerblading too, and entered into the competition to become a competitor internationally.

Recently, Lin had an art exhibition at the city office of Chiayi, yesterday, he showed his mother portrait which he had drawn, warmed up his mother’s heart. Tseng encouraged parents with special needs children, to NOT suppress the negative emotions, so long as they don’t give up on their children, then, there will be, opportunities.

So, the mother is still, the DRIVING force behind the success of this young man with Downs’s Syndrome, because she NEVER gave UP on her son, she’d treated him like he was an ordinary child, that, was how the young man was able to become, outstanding in what he did.
