You were, too scared to leave, because he’d gotten you to, totally, rely on him now, severed you from all of your social contacts, including your families and friends too.
And after he’d beaten the crap out of you, you’d become, even more withdrawn, too scared to leave, and, leaving would be, a HELL of a lot easier, if you don’t have the kids, and now, the kids became, an EXTRA leverage for him, to use, to control you.

I’d seen the cases where a woman’s restraining order had yet been issued to her, and she was, murdered in brutality by her ex, I don’t want that to happen to me!
