Four Elementary School Students Teamed Up, and Became “Temporary Grandchildren” for the Elderly in Their Areas

Reaching out, to the population that needed the show of cares and concerns, because they’re in need of getting more social, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

It’s, really hard, to imagine, that in a developed city like Taipei, there would be, this sort, of lacking in the society, after the four elementary school aged students from Lihu Elementary School spent some time with the elderly who lived alone in the Southern Airport Community, they’d made the animated film, “This Missing Completeness in the Developed City”, asked the questions in their minds, hoped, to let more people understand, that even the smallest of lights can light up the darkened skies of the nights, so every missing part of the societies can finally, be completed somehow.

here are the young women, delivering the donated items to those in need…

The instructor from Lihu Elementary School, Chang said, that four little girls, including Yu-Tong Chang, had wanted to, speak, for the people in need in their local areas, last year in November, the group of four had targeted the elderly who lived alone, as well as the foreign hired helpers in the South Airport Community, and walked into the community to volunteer. Chang, Chen, and Lin became, the captains of the group, “the Missing Corners”, the team of four became, the “Puzzle Piece Completers”, and got involved with the fundraising activities held in the local communities, and, observed, then provided for the needs of the less fortunate.

They’d realized, that the elderly who lived alone needed the accompaniment, not the money, and so, they’d decided, to take upon themselves, and played the roles of “temporary grandchildren” to these elderly, and held conversations with the elderly living in the community, and although, sometimes, it was, only, a simple “How are you?”, it’d made the elders spirits high for a very long while; and, the foreign caretakers who looked after the elderly in the community didn’t have their kin in Taiwan by their sides, and couldn’t speak the language spoken here, a book that one had brought back from the trips abroad, can help them reduce how much they missed their homes.

And, these, are just elementary school girls, with so very little, and yet, they were able to, make SUCH a huge difference in the lives of these people they’d interacted with, and that still just shows, that it doesn’t take that much, to make other people happy or feel that they were, blessed, all that’s needed, is a little thought, and, putting that small thought into action like all four of these young women are doing, reaching out, to those in need and helping them improve the qualities of their lives.
