As the Slide Generation came, who, are the ones sleeping next to the pillows of the college students? The World News University yesterday published the results of the SmartPhone Usage survey, nearly fifty percent of students from college used their cell phones for four to eight hours a day, meaning that they are using the phones, every minute of their waking hour, half of them were just, “sliding” their cell phones; and, over eighty percent had the habits of using their cell phones before they go to bed, and the cell phones had all become, the college-age students’ “bedside lovers”.
The college students had approximately a cell phone each, the results of the data collected from the surveys showed, that ninety-four percent of college students believed that the long-term usage of cell phones is harmful to their eyesight, but, there are, nearly fifty percent of the population that spend four to eight hours on their cell phones, and there are a little over twenty-percent who admitted to using eight to sixteen hours of cell phone every day.
And, before bedtime and at waking, are the heightened periods of cell phone usage for college students. Eighty-one percent of college students would use their cell phones before bedtime, and sixty-two percent admitted to using the cell phones when they just wake up, the cell phone are, upgraded to the pillow side lovers for the college aged population now.
And, nearly fifty percent of college students would “slide” their ways into the classrooms, and, when the students were asked for how much they agreed with cell phone usage when they are in class, only twenty-percent said that they don’t agree with it, the rate for the students who believed it to be fine to use their cells in class is up to forty percent.
And so, because of the convenience of these smart phones, adults, as well as students, and, it will get to the children’s populations too I’m sure of it, can’t live without it, and, although this survey is only on the students in college, but, I’m sure, that the statistics for the adult population would be even MORE shocking!
