Decisions on whether or not to resuscitate, causing the arguments, from the Newspapers, translated…
A ninety-year-old elderly woman, Hsieh is in critical condition, her eldest son agreed on do-not-resuscitate, the elderly woman died of respiratory failure; the third youngest son was displeased at how his eldest brother didn’t respect his mother’s wishes of “living until a hundred”, he’d SUED his eldest brother for murdering their kind, and sued the doctors, and two older sisters-in-law as accomplices. The D.A. believed, that all three individuals didn’t carry the intentions of murder, and there was, a lack of evidence that proved that they’d caused the elderly’s death, the D.A. decided not to prosecute.

The D.A. stated, that from the medical records, the death certificates, it all proved, that as the elderly woman was hospitalized, she’d become weakened, and her life is slowly, deteriorating away, the doctors also followed the rules of the hospice requirements, and not performed CPR on her, that they’d done according to the medical requirements.

Hsieh, with the history of high blood pressure, diabetes, because she was overcome with dementia I her elderly years, she’d wandered off several times, recently, the family members sent her into a long-term care facility; last May, she was taken to the hospital because she was on the verge of dying, the hospital asked the eldest son if he was willing to sign the do-not-resuscitate order, three days after the eldest had signed, the elderly woman died of acute respiratory failure as a complication of her septicemia.
The third son sued his eldest and second eldest sister-in-law for murder, that they’d used the advantage of their mother’s hospitalization, before telling other members of the family, signed the do-not-resuscitate order, and took away their mother’s wish of living until she’s a hundred years old, and that the primary physician is also responsible for the murder of his mother too.
The D.A. believed, that there’s no way of confirming the elderly woman’s wish of living until a hundred to be true, by the verbal claims of the family; and based off of the records from the hospital, it’d shown that the family members were in disagreement on whether or not to give up on resuscitating, and they’d called up the social workers to try to calm the emotions down, and that in the processes, the hospital did everything by the book, that there was, a lack of evidence in this case.

And so, this, is a family dispute that stemmed from honoring the dying mother’s wish, or to stop her from suffering, and, there’s still a lot of leeway on this, but, basically, the key point here, is to NOT let your loved ones suffer for too long before they die, after all, elongating life, but with the quality of life dropping by the seconds, what kind of a life would that be???
