The Seventy-Five Year-Old Grandpa Feng Took Over Fifty Selfies for His Profile Photo, the Ninety-One Year-Old Grandma Chang Photoshopped All Her Wrinkles Away, Kept Asking People, “Does This Look Good?”
The elderly in the population were intrigued with selfies. The Datong University hosted the “My Era of Selfies—The Photo Collage of the Elderly”, invited those over sixty who are active in life, to show how well they looked in selfies, and, the outstanding pictures are about to be put on exhibition. There was an elderly man with cancer, in order to get higher-quality photos of himself, he’d studied the makeup of the photographs, and tried various facial expressions too, “It’s, as if all of my ailments are gone away!”
here’s another one…
“What other possibilities comes with old age?”, weak, ill, handicapped, and unwanted were all the stereotypes of what being old is, and still, with the advances in technologies, there are endless possibilities for old age now. In order to get these elderly to appear very beautifully in their selfies, they Datong University had especially set up lectures on photography, having the photography major students give one-on-one training sessions to the elderly using the SmartPhones, teaching them to look at what scenes would best fit in a picture, to find the light source, to see the angles, and they also managed to teach the elderly how to upload the photos they took onto Facebook and LINE as well too.
“In every elderly person, there’s a younger soul”, the associate professor of Electric Engineering of Datong University, Yang said, a lot of the elderly members of the population are using Facebook now, but they’d not known how to run the websites, nor how to show their cares and concerns toward their offspring, that, is why there’s a lot of elderly online, but not very many who are active. He said, so long as the younger generations are willing to be more patient, to teach their elderly how to use the simpler technologies, then, they can discover, that the elderly in their lives are just as active as they all are.
Grandpa Feng at age seventy-five, after he was diagnosed with cancer, he’d become, a “stay-at-home” geek, his daughter who worked away worried that her father might get bored, taught him how to take his own selfies, and ever since, Grandpa Feng became a fanatic in selfies, and took over fifty photos of himself, for a headshot on LINE. Grandpa Feng who majored in art in his younger years said, he’d used a lot of time, to analyze which angle, which expressions, the light, and the makeup of the photos would be more beautiful in the photos, and asked his daughter to teach him to use the photoshop programs on his SmartPhone.
The first year electrical engineering student, Chang from Datong University also taught her ninety-one-year-old elderly grandmother to take selfies. Chang told, that grandma had only countable photos taken of her in life, she hoped, that through the selfies, she could get the world to know her cute grandmother.
At first, as her grandmother heard that she was having her photos taken, she’d become objecting to it, resisted it, but as her granddaughter kept encouraging her, teaching her how to use the keys, grandma started getting curious of how it all works, especially after she saw the finished picture, how the wrinkles are reduced by the numbers, she kept asking, “Does that look good?”
and this one, will make a good Christams greeting card too!
So, it looks like these elderly in the population only needed someone, to lead them back into the world, and once they’d gotten the hang on taking their own selfies, they’d become more into it, more excited about it, and become more active in their own lives, what a great way, to get the elderly starting to enter back into the real world, in their own ways, huh???
