A certain graduate from a private high school, Chen, after his midterms last Friday, rode his motorcycle out to the super convenience stores to buy something, and on his way to go to his friend’s house to celebrate, as he rode past Central Road in Wuchi District, he’d rammed into a sedan, the door on the driver’s side of the sedan was completely dented, both were suspected of not reducing speed, and, the student Chen who wasn’t wearing a safety helmet died of head trauma, and the driver of the small sedan, Hsu was charged with vehicular manslaughter.

Chen’s mother told, that her son is very outgoing and enjoyed making friends, loved cars, during the daytime, he’d worked at a garage learning the techniques, and in the evening, he’d gone to study to become a mechanic, he’d already received his auto mechanic license; the family just celebrated his birthday last Tuesday, and a few days ago, he’d gotten his driver’s license too, the son told them that he’d wanted to go for a test drive on his scooter, but, never to return again.

Chen’s mother said, that her son and his friends had all gotten their motorist licenses now, and he could head out with his friends, and told that he was going to give one of his friends a lift too, and they’d planned to ride around the island, and now, all of that will NEVER happen.

The emergency room of the Children’s Hospital in Chih-Wu stated, that Chen suffered fractures in his head, cervical spinal column, and thighs too, he’d had serious internal bleeding, as he’d been taken there, he’d shown NO sign of life. The school said, that Chen was a student for the automechanic department, he has two older brothers, and was excellent academically, and worked as a student elected officer as well.

And so, another YOUNG life is lost, on the road, and maybe, had both parties, the high-school kid and the driver both drove slower, than, this may have well been avoided, but, they were both, driving too fast, and because the high school student WAS on a motorcycle, the impact had, killed him, but, had he been riding in another car, then, maybe, the end result of this may have been different, but, that’s, just not what had happened here, so another young life faded into gray…
