With the Parents Reading Illustrated Books to Their Young, the Children Become “Owners” of Their Own Lives

Reading to your young children can affect their lives long-term!!! From the Newspapers, translated…

The illustrated books author, Jia-Huei Xing stated, that the traditional ways of teaching reading slaughters the love of reading in the children, she recommended that as the parents led the children into explorations of the illustrated books, to allowing the children to make the discoveries actively, that way, the children will feel that sense of achievement from being the master of reading, which will continue to help the child to want to read more in the futures.

The children’s literature writer, Xing, the doctorate of Children’s Literature from the Newberg University in England, Lee is full of passion when it comes to advocating children’s reading. Xing said, that the system of education in Taiwan placed over-emphasis on language education, which caused the students to often just memorize the short essays, and only recalling the words meanings and how the words are pronounced, that they couldn’t go into depth on the discussions of a subject.

And because of this, the parents usually just read the words, instead of going with the developmental stages that the child was in, and help the children discover the stories they’d read, failing to save the words to the imaginative mind of the children’s brains, connecting what they’d heard with pictures.

Increase the bond between the parents and children, an added benefit of reading with your young kids.

Xing said, because the schools don’t quiz or test you on the drawings, the parents would often believe, that the picture books with limited characters would not help increase the children’s language abilities, that they’d become skeptics toward illustrated books. But, for a little over two decades, a lot of parents shared their own experiences in being read to in school, or reading illustrated books themselves, and found, that there are wider realms of topics being discussed through the illustrated books, that the illustrated books are now, more reality-related, and more and more parents are willing to view and use the illustrated books as literary works that can help in education of their young.

How to pick out a book that’s fitting for the child? Xing suggested, that the readers can find something that’s happening in their realities, and incorporate it into the children’s reading materials, and start up a discussion with them on the issues. That way, selecting the books to reader wouldn’t be like searching for a needle in a haystack, and, through the reading of illustrated books together, the parents can also increase their fields of vision with their young too.

And so, this, is how important reading to your kids is, and, all it takes, is a FEW god DAMN minutes to READ your kids to sleep, and if you FUCKING (oopsy!) parents can’t even spare those god DAMN few short minutes to read to your kids before they go to bed, then, WHAT kind of a parent would you be??? EXACTLY!
