Because these retired veterans from China originally are SUCKERS, which made them EASY targets too!!! From the Front Page Sections, translated…
Awhile ago, when a retired veteran, Chou was stopped as he’d tried to register for marriage with a woman, Hu, from China, he was deterred by those around him, yesterday morning, he’d gone to another land office to register, and was still being talked out of it, but Chou insisted, “I just wanted to marry her, so she can take care of me”, and asked the attendees at the local veteran’s offices to mind their own business, in the end, he successfully registered for marriage.
Yesterday at around ten in the morning, the eighty-six year-old Chou registered for marriage with the Chinese woman, Hu, the workers found, that the two of them are very far apart in age, they were without their family members accompanying, and two of the male witnesses, they’d seen around the office, and this, was Hu’s third marriage since she’d arrived here, the attendee immediately called up the Hsinchu Veteran’s Office, to send someone over to try to understand the situations.
“Mr. would you like to reconsider.”, the workers asked Chou if he’d really wanted to remarry again, Chou kept repeating, “I just want someone to help take care of me, what’s wrong with that?”, Hu stated afterwards, “marrying is our basic human rights, why can’t we do it?”, the workers then asked, in a milder manner, “then, do you want to place your money into a trust?”, Chou who lives in the Veteran’s Home got even more furious, complained, “Why do you care so much, I have NO freedom, I just want to get married, so, STOP trying to stop me!”
Chou said, that many years ago, he married a woman from China, after she’d become a citizen, three years ago, she’d told him she was diagnosed with stomach cancer and they’d divorced, Chou had put up a sizable sum in alimony. After the divorce, he’d met Hu who was a nurse’s aide, and believed, that she was the one for him in his elderly years, “after we married, she can then, shop for me, take care of me”, so, a marriage is a must.
Although the workers at the Veteran Center told him, “She could help take care of you as your friend, you don’t necessarily need to marry her.” But Chou was insistent on registering for marriage, and so, in the very end, the workers can only give their blessings to them, and told Hu, “You must take good care of him”.
The land offices pointed out, that there are already, so many news stories of women scamming for the retired veteran’s cash in marriage, they feared, that Chou was being scammed, that, was why they’d notified the Veteran’s Services Department. The Veteran’s Services Department pointed out, that since Hu had arrived in Taiwan, she was already married twice, both times were to elderly retired veterans, three years after Hu’s first husband passed away, she’d married another retired veteran, then, divorced him, Chou is her “third”, that, was why they were there, to try to understand what was going on, but, marriage is a freedom that he had, and, since the elderly retired veteran wanted to marry, all they could do, was offer their sincerest blessings to him.
And so, chances are, that this time around (the third time was it??? For the woman from China!), would still be to get the retirement pension, and, that, is why people at the land offices are worried, but, this elderly is way too undeterred in his belief that he’d found the one, this late in life, that, is why the workers couldn’t talk him out of it, and, all they could do, was hope, that this woman from China is not into scamming him.
