Cause of death: unclear, but, had she not joined this “retreat group”, could the outcomes have been different? Now, we’ll, never know, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
A visually-impaired but very optimistic graduate student from Chinghwa University, Chuang, was found dead last week, at her regular meditation place, her parents accused the leader of the meditation group, Cheng had scammed their daughter for two million dollars, and brainwashed her into “having only one meal a day, don’t see the doctors when you fell ill”, Chuang was feeling stomach pains, and the very next day after she was brought to the place where the meditation group met, she’d died, the parents suspected that there’s more to it on how their child had died.
the photograph of the young woman…
and here’s what this “cult” “made” her buy…
But, the D.A.’s autopsy of Chuang’s body showed that she’d died of myocarditis, there were no external injuries, she’d tested negative for substances, and so, the D.A. didn’t punish the member, Cheng harshly; as for whether or not the money Chuang gave to the organization constitute as fraud, is still pending investigation.
The thirty-year-old Chuang was once a recipient of the Presidential Education Award, and the Life Medal too. When she was involved in a car accident at age thirteen, she was diagnosed with “early onset of macular degeneration”, she was close to being legally blind, and, although she’d become visually impaired, she’d still worked very hard, with amazing grades, she’d gotten into her first choice high school, Wuling High School, the Information Major of Chinghwa University, she’s currently in her second year of grad school, she’d even written her life experiences into a book, “Light up the Dimming Bliss”, and gone to give lectures on her own experiences in life too.
Chuang’s parents accused, that on the 22nd, their daughter had a stomach ache, was taken to the meditation place, and the very next morn at around five, they were told, she was dead. Chuang’s mother said, that her daughter was outstanding in character and the academics since she was growing up, and, although with her eye condition, she was still more than optimistic about life, that before she’d gotten involve with the meditation group, she’d often encouraged them, “You will walk your own paths in life, future is still beautiful”, but, her life had turned the corners, because of an unknown religious group.
They said, six years ago, their daughter asked them for a million dollars, told them it was for her instructor, and they’d refused to give it to her, she’d left home, and, the family looked for her for over a year, and begged her to come home, but she’d still gone to the meditation place five days a week, and there were boxes of shampoo, clothes, along with other things that one would need for daily living that Chuang had bought from the meditation group. Chuang’s mother believed, that her daughter was brainwashed, only ate one meal a day, and she’d only had the cooked apples as sustenance, she’d become skin and bones, and as she’d fallen ill, she was warned, “Don’t go see the physicians, you will get worse.”
Cheng, a fellow meditation group member pointed out to the officers, that Chuang started going to the meditation retreats nine years ago, she’d done yoga, and meditated every single day, that very night at around eight, Chuang complained of feeling off, she was accompanied by a fellow class member, to the dojo to sit, to be treated, at around midnight, Chuang started cramping, vomiting, her face turned white, they’d immediately called up the ambulance, rushed her to the hospital, that they’d not delayed her getting treated. Chuang’s classmate also testified, that Cheng the leader didn’t restrict Chuang’s going place, that she’d not prevented her from seeking out medical treatment, nor abused her.
Cheng said, they’d used, the “God’s ways”, with the oxygen machines to treat Chuang, they’d used the energies from their hands, to work alongside with her body temperatures, to massage the pressure points, that in the process, they’d also fed her vitamin C drinks, that they’d not done anything invasive in their treatment measures. That these couple of years, they’d not charged Chuang anything, that it was Chuang who willingly gave the money to them.
And so, the precise cause of death of this woman, and what killed her, is still under investigation, and this still just shows how much a cult can affect someone’s mind, and, perhaps, this young woman felt, that this cult had given her something that she’d searched for all over, but couldn’t found anywhere else, that, was why she was so set in participating in the activities, and now she’s dead!
