My Son’s Very First Post-It Note

Translated…

My son who is in the first grade, one day, he’d left his watercolors on his desk at school, and, ever since, this set of his material vanished.

Because the set had his favorite kind of watercolor that’s not found in stores anywhere, a few days later when I’d picked him up from school, he’d started ranting on how he’d wanted those brushes, I’d told him, that he’d needed to keep his things in check, otherwise, someone could easily take it away from him. “but I’m too young, and I just can’t remember to!”, he’d looked so awful.

“If you forget easily, then, you can write it down on a small piece of paper so you’ll have it as a reminder.”, I’d suggested him, but, my son who was then, trapped in his own emotions couldn’t hear me, kept ranted on how he just couldn’t remember. In bedtime, he’d turned his attitude about using the post-it notes around, and told me he’d wanted to write this small thing that just happened down.

not my picture…

“This, is so simple, just keep it in your mind!”, I’d told. “No, I’m too young, I will totally forget, I must write it down on the Post-It notes!”

I couldn’t deter him, so, I’d handed him a post-it note, he’d carried great concentration, as he’d written it down, and, he’d intentionally, stuck it to the computer I work on every day, it had, “M-O-M—1+1+1!”

Looking at his very first post-it note, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry, what he wrote was, “Mom owes me $3”! don’t know what I’d taught him! But, thinking on the brighter side, he’d finally taken my advice, and wrote something that he forgot easily down on the papers, that counts as a small improvement.

So, your son’s very first note was how much you owed him, that’s interesting, bet you never expected that, but hey, that’s just it with kids, they can surprise you, with the lessons you’d taught them…
