In memory of the terrorist attack of March 23, translated…
My Friends in the Springtime
In the Early Morning Mists, Saw a Stag
Wandering on the Edge of the Forest
Chewing on the Hardened Leaves
His Tiny Ears, Shaking
Looking Like They Were Waving to the World
Telling All, that He is, the Ride of Dianna
The Delicate Artisanship of Ancient Greek
In This, Serene Time and Space
The Early Morning of a March Day
He’d Walked Out of the Woods
Into the Distant Plains, and Still
Kept Its Distance
from the attacks in Brussels…
Looking at the World, as if Telling the World’s Masses
That Everything is Okay Here, that
There’s No Need for Worries
No Need for Worries
Is Everything Really All Right
Maybe, He Doesn’t Know
That in This Early Serene Morning
not my photo still…
People Rushing to Work in Brussels Had
Been Attacked and Many Lost Their Lives
The Ambulances Sped into the Void
Some Were Hurt, Some Were Praying
not my photograph…
He’d Still, Stood Far Off and Just
Watched, with a Single Invisible Boundary
Caught, by My Friend, in This Future Full of Life My Friend Had
Captured Him on Film, and Sent Me His Photograph
Hinted that There May be Tragedies in God’s Delicate Creations
But I’d Needed Not be Heartbroken Over it
So, this would be, the healing powers of nature, isn’t it? Nature often has that calming effect on the mind and the soul, and, by walking into the woods, you’ll be able to find that peace that you’d longed for, besides, walking along into the woods can get you away from your maddening everyday life too.
