Trying to cheat the system, but it wasn’t successful, what-not-to-do, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

Thirty-four pregnant women were suspected of going through the immigrations agencies, before they were due, headed to the U.S., and, they’d claimed that they have the symptoms of placenta previa, and stayed in the U.S. for their surgeries, and afterwards, they’d come back to Taiwan, and filed for the claims with the National Health Insurance Agency as well as the Travel-Safety Insurance claims too, each one of them committed health insurance fraud of at least $400,000N.T.s; the Detective Squad yesterday searched the two immigration agencies that helped with the paperwork, and booked the owner, Liu, the workers, Yen, and Liang, the insurance agent for fraud, and the thirty-four pregnant women were also, prosecuted as well.

As the police interrogated, all three individuals denied having committed fraud, they’d even said, that they were merely “suggesting” to the pregnant ladies to do this; but, there were, ten ladies who admitted for filing the false claims, said that they were instructed by the employees on how they should do it, and the police searched the premises of the insurance company, and found the “teaching manuals” on how the pregnant ladies can make up their symptoms to be taken to the hospitals while abroad.

In a birthing recovery center in Southern California, a year ago, the case of the ladies going into labor abroad, needing emergency birth plans, to scam the health insurance agencies, to evade taxes, and most of the women involved were from Taiwan; the Hsinbei District Attorney’s office had the Detective Squad review over the records of the insurances and found that there were at least thirty-four pregnant women who’d used the excuse of placenta previa as excuses to get emergency C-sections in the U.S., then, after their returns back to Taiwan, they’d filed for the insurance claims with the Nation Health Insurance Agency.

The police said, that these thirty-four women showed NO abnormalities in their prenatal exams here in Taiwan, that they’d all gone to the U.S. after they’re thirty-one weeks in, and, based off of the medical researches, placenta previa has a one in three hundred chance of occurring, plus, after a woman is twenty-eight weeks in, the placenta is set in place, that chances of these woman having the condition is next to none; plus all thirty four of them had already booked their places at the after-birth recovery centers, which showed that they had plans in committing fraud.

The police said, that in the past two years, there were about a thousand pregnant women who’d gone to the U.S., and used the reason of placenta previa to get money from the National Health Insurance, and many of them may have been involved in fraud too, and the police is looking into interviewing every single one of the women who’d made such claims with the insurance agencies one by one.

So, this, is a very BAD example, of scamming the system, just because we have great medical insurance here, that still doesn’t mean that you can take advantage of the systems, and you still got caught!
