From the Newspapers, translated…

Recently, the Shijr Elementary School put on the touring art exhibition “Love, the Infinite Possibilities”, and the twenty-six paintings on display were all done by children with terminal illnesses, and, with the explanations of the teacher who led the exhibitions, the students were able to see how passionate these ill children are about life, and learned, how much empathy, how much respect was needed, when they’d interacted with these ill children.

“Why are their paintings so sad?”, the Chong-De Elementary School, worked with the Light Children’s Serious Illness Foundation, and put the twenty-one ill children’s artworks on display in the schools, and, the students went to see the work by their grade levels, a lot of students exclaimed, “So pretty!” as they saw the paintings, and, there were students who couldn’t understand “how come all the faces in the paintings are crying?”

These twenty-six paintings were from the seriously ill children in Hsinbei City and Taoyuan, and the place they’d done their artwork were mostly the hospital and in their homes, there was a child, because her bones didn’t grow normally, she’d painted how she’d wished she could dance freely, into her work, and, used a giraffe that couldn’t dance, to show how she felt, another child, used her painting, to show, how the outside world had, looked at her weird, because she’d lost her hair due to chemotherapy, hoped, that the world can be more empathetic.

And so, through these artwork, the children showed how they felt, and that, is a good kind of therapy, better than lying on that couch in the shrink’s office that’s for sure, and the children who were taken by their teachers to see the art exhibition were also given the chance of being educated in a different way too.
