She still couldn’t escape from him at the end, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

The groomer, Wei-Ru Chien was found shot in the face by her husband, Shih, at the pet beauty salon where she worked in Shijr, after Shih shot her, he’d flagged down a cab and made his get away; the police investigated, that Chien married a violent man and was beaten up, she’d filed for a restraining order against him, made her way up north to hide from him, without knowing, that Shih had, tracked her down, and she’d been murdered after their argument.

Based off of testimonies given by the witnesses, Shih (age 45) two years ago, drove his Mercedes Benz to Nantou, pretending that he was lost, and, enticed an adolescent girl to go with him to Chiayi to shop, and, he’d drugged her, and after she’d passed out, he’d raped her, and he’d even, taken shots of her, naked, and he’d ran to Yilan later on, and, mailed the memory card back home in Changhwa, told his daughter to hide it, it was caught by the police and taken as evidence. Last year, he was found guilty for forced sexual behaviors and sentenced to eight years, on the appeals, he’d posted the news articles, and left the messages, “Yeah, it’s me!”

Two years ago on January 2, Chien’s visit to the E.R. from being beaten up was reported by the hospital to the Social Services, both were each other’s second marriage, and, they’d started arguing after they wed over the small matters in life, and Chien went to the E.R., because her neck was choked by her husband and she was in immense pain, but recently, “it’d gotten better”, and asked the social workers to stop visiting her, and since, Chien went off the grid.

Last year on September 17, the social workers learned that Chien had lived in the city of Taipei, so, they’d passed her case files to the Taipei City’s Social Services Department to take care; on December 22, the Shihlin District Court gave Chien her restraining order. “She’s not an underage child, there’s nothing that the social workers can do.” Wang said, that the government can’t FORCE the protective orders for adults who were involved in bad relationships, and Chien seemed to have worries that she’d not spoken much on her own marriage, and, there was, just nothing the government could’ve done.

And this murder that stemmed from domestic violence happened yesterday at around noon, the pet shop store clerk said, she’d seen the photos of Chien’s husband, and was absolutely certain that it was him who’d gunned her down; she said, that yesterday, Shih came, looking for his wife, she’d told him out of kindness, “She’s next door”, she’d heard them arguing loudly, and as she wanted to show care and concerns for them, Shih told her to back off, and not long thereafter, she’d heard gunshots going off.

The nearby breakfast shop worker stated, that back then, he’d heard a “BANG!” outside, thought that there was a car accident, ran outside, and saw the female store clerk from the pet shop running out, in a panic, hollering, “Someone’s bleeding!”, he’d rushed into the shop, and saw Chien with a gun shot wound on her forehead, nearing the center of her forehead, and blood was coming out of her head like crazy.

The police found, that yesterday morning, Shih had taken his parents’ car, from Changhwa to Longtan, Taoyuan to visit the daughter with his ex-wife who was in prison because of drug-related charges, and because he couldn’t meet up with her, Shih claimed that he’d wanted to visit with his wife, and had his parents drive him to the pet shop where she’d worked in Shijr. After Shih murdered his ex-wife, he’d run away on foot, took a cab to the Taipei Bus Terminal Stations, then, set out on the southbound bus, the police had, worked through the nights, and are tracking him down.

So, this is once again, the man unwilling to let go of his own ex, and he’d had a prior history of violence toward her too, and this woman just couldn’t get away far enough from him, and she’d turned the social workers away, for whatever reasons there may have been, which had led to her own death, and, you can’t help but wonder, had she accepted the help from the social workers, could this have ended differently???
