The seventy-two year-old elderly man, Wang was believed to be tired of being sick for long periods of time, yesterday on his outing with his own wife, he was suspected of hacking his own wife five times, then, stabbed himself once, Wang’s wife made her escape to the temple seven hundred meters away from where they were to get help, the two were rushed to the hospitals, and were both okay; after Wang’s wife learned that her husband attempted suicide after he’d hacked her down, she believed that it was understandable why he did what he’d done to her, wouldn’t press charges.
The police investigated, the elderly man had kidney cancer, and, was in the terminal stage of lung cancer too, and was also overcome with depressive disorder as well, yesterday, he’d stashed a fruit knife and a shorter knife at around ten in the morning, and, used the excuse of needing to visit the hospital to get the insurance claims for his cancer treatments, asked his wife to come along, and, at the entrance of the street to their community, he’d taken the knife, started stabbing his wife, causing his wife to suffer FIVE separate wounds on her chest, her forearm, and her lips.
Back then, a man, Lu was driving by and saw the process of the elderly, attempting to murder his own wife, he’d immediately gotten out of his car, and, with the elderly couple’s neighbor, Jiang, pulled the elderly away from his wife, and took the knife from his hand, Wang’s wife escaped from the scene, with a hand over her chest, ran for five minutes, to the temple seven hundred meters away to find help, the man responsible for keeping the temple saw, he’d immediately called the ambulance, and rushed Wang’s wife to the MacKay Hospital in Danshui to the emergency rooms.
Lu also drove his car to the police precinct to report the incident, the police rushed to the scene, the elderly man was, dumbfounded, sat on the ground, without a word, or any facial expressions either, and after the police took him into the precinct, he’d stated that he’d attempted to murder his own wife, but attempted to kill himself also, the officers pulled back his jacket to check for injuries, they’d found puncture wounds on his abdomen, he was immediately sent to the VMH in Taipei for treatment.
The police stated, the couple is out of danger, but needed to stay in the hospital for further observations, and couldn’t give their statements yet; from the son’s words, Wang’s wife learned of what’d happened to her husband, refused to press charges, but the case is still being investigated as an “attempted murder”.
And so, here, we have someone who’d been sick too long, who just couldn’t cope with the problems he’d had in old age, and, he scapegoated on his own wife, or maybe, he thought, that if he’d died, his wife will be lonely and left alone on her own, and he didn’t want her to be all alone, who knows, so that, was why he’d hacked her down first, but gladly, they’d both only suffered minor injuries, and their lives were saved…
