Trending N-O-W!!! From the Newspapers, translated…
The National Libraries put forth the reports on the trends of publishing, it’d found, that although the number of newly published books are on the decline in Taiwan, last year, it’d broken the ten-year’s lowest of 40,000 kinds. But what’s worth noting was, in the impact of declining birth rate, there had been, more books on the early childhood years being published, whether it be the quantities in print, the sales number, as well as the prices, are all on the rise compared to past years, it’d shown, how the publishers are fighting to get money out of the parents’ pockets.
The Trends Analysis showed, that there were a total of 39,717 different new books printed in 2015, way less compared to two years ago, and the publishers had dropped by fifty-seven. Looking now, at electronic books, just last year, there were, 2,147 different electronic books asked to be published, took up 5.41 percent of all the newly published books, compared to two years ago, there was, an increase of 507 different electronic books.
and this would be what the decline in birthrate looks like…
The National Libraries analyzed, that this is due to the coming of the “sliding generation”, internet and high-tech products had, replaced the original paperbacks; and it may also be how the economics aren’t doing so well in general, causing the members of the public to buy less books, causing the publishers being less willing to invest in putting out the new books.
And still, the books of games for children before school age had, started up a new trend here. The National Libraries stated, that in the “readers’ age” analysis, the books on “academics of adults”, and for “children before school age”, as well as reading materials for elderly persons had showed a slight increase compared to last year. Especially the reading materials fitted for “children before school age”, the interactive books are, becoming more and more popular, with an increase by 281 varieties.
The National Libraries believed, that due to the impact from the decline in birthrate, whether it be the number of books published, or the sales, as well as the unit prices hiking up, the publishers may be more than willing to invest in the areas of publishing children’s books, it may also be a “premonition of trends”, that they’d believed that due to the decline in birthrate, the parents would be more than willing to, spend more money on the education of their young, and so, they’d led the way, to take down the market for children’s reading.
And so, this trend is caused by the decline of birthrate, and, the decline of birthrate doesn’t just impact the sales of books, it would affect other areas as well, like how the population is aging faster and, there would be, one child needing to take care of six to eight elderly in the future, but, it’s good, for children’s books, so, who am I, to complain???
