He, since his return from the States to Taiwan, couldn’t find a formal teaching post, so, he could only head to a university in Guangzhou to interview, the first words that the dean said to him was, “the offer we have here, is way better than back home, isn’t it!”
Since the teas, the pineapple cakes, what, is the specialties being produced by Taiwan now? Perhaps, it’s the cheap and hardworking people. The long-term stagnancy of wages had caused the cheap labors of the Taiwanese people to be known throughout the world now.
A doctoral student who’d graduated and couldn’t find a formal teaching post, awhile ago, went for an interview at a university in Guangzhou, as he sat down, the first words that the dean said to him was, “the offer we have here, is WAY better than back home, isn’t it?”, this caused him, to become speechless.
He’d stated, that after he’d graduated from a U.S. graduate school, he’d returned to Taiwan, and couldn’t find a formal teaching post, so he’d had to, part-time in the schools, and subtracting the money for the commute, he’d only made a little over $30,000N.T.s, for him, who’s married, with a child, life is, truly, difficult.
He said, back then when he’d gone to the States to study, he’d never imagined, that after he’d received his doctorate, he’d be faced, with the problems of unemployment.
And, the reason why China was attracted to come to Taiwan to recruit is not only because of the low wages that we have here.
And so, how, can this country up its level, so we can match up to the rest of the world? There’s no right answer, just a ton of ideas that are waiting, to be explored, and, if we don’t offer better pay, then, all the good, qualified professionals are all, headed off abroad, then, what does this country have then? Absolutely N-O-T-H-I-N-G!
