The man became a tainted witness, and was sentenced to seven years in prison, his friend, twelve.
In May of last year, a woman committed suicide by burning charcoal inside of a motel in Hsinbei City, her older brother picked up her cell phone, and found that her boyfriend, Chou and another man, Chiu had agreed privately, to “exchange partners for sex”, set it up, so that Chiu could rape her, which caused the woman to feel shamed, which then, drove her to suicide. The Hsinbei District Court scolded Chou and Chiu for treating women as play objects, and sentenced Chu to twelve years in prison and Chou to seven years in prison for opportune rape.
The Hsinbei District Court investigated, that the twenty-eight year-old Chou works as an insurance agent, shared the rent of a suite with the thirty-six year-old Chiu. Last year in March, Chiu called his girlfriend from Hsinchu to Hsinbei City, and agreed to swap girlfriends with Chou, and, waited until his girlfriend was in the showers, took Chou into their room and into the bed, after the girlfriend found out, she’d pushed him aside. The very next month, Chou had gotten his girlfriend who works at the counter at a shopping mall drunk, to allow Chiu to rape her; a month after the incident, the girlfriend had, committed suicide by burning charcoal at the motel.
The member of the woman’s family checked her cell phone, found that before she’d died, she’d texted so many messages to her boyfriend, mentioning “I couldn’t erase that scene from my mind of that day, do you know how disgusting that was?”, “My life is completely ruined by you, because of that day”, “Don’t you feel, the least bit remorseful?”, etc., etc., etc. The woman’s older brother took her cell phone to the police on the forty-ninth day after she’d died.
At his court appearance, Chou tried to deflect his responsibility in the matter of his girlfriend’s death, stated that she’d gotten pregnant with his child, and had an abortion, and had been emotionally unstable since the surgeries, which caused her to commit suicide. Chiu claimed, “there was no successful sexual intercourse”, that he wasn’t, the responsible one.
The judge believed, that the deceased was very outgoing and optimistic, had NEVER shown signs of being suicidal or any history of mental illness, which clearly showed, that she’d killed herself, because of how ashamed she felt about the incident. And because Chou became a tainted witness, he’d gotten a reduced sentence of seven years, while Chiu was given a heavy sentence of twelve years, the two are in police custody, and the case can still be appealed.
So, this woman’s death WAS clearly, caused by these two men’s bad behaviors, and, in court, they’d tried to weasel out of taking responsibilities for her death, but, the judge didn’t allow it, and, justice WAS served, but this woman still lost her life because of these two losers’ bad behaviors.
