Overturning the Myth “Acquisition of a New Language Relies Not on the Right Side of the Brain But the Left Side”

Research findings here, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

This country, alongside U.S., Israel, Spain, and sixteen other nations had, set up an internationally linked research team, through the four years’ time, confirmed, that reading and word recognition in Chinese, English, Hebrew, and Spanish all relied on the left hemisphere of the brain.  And, it’d, overturned the past belief of reading in Chinese is right-brained and reading in English is left-brained.

 nope, still not my diagram…

This study was published last month on the fifteenth on the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the scholars from here that went to the conferences included many directors of the neurology departments from the famous Taiwanese universities.

Lee, the associate professor of educational psychology and counseling said, that in the past, there was the belief of how Chinese characters are like pictographs, that reading in Chinese was viewed as linking the images with the meanings, and right-brained; and English is the spelling languages, through spelling the words, to make them meaningful, using the left hemisphere to decipher; the two are, varied.  And, even there were researchers who’d believed, that a person may not have reading difficulties in Chinese, but may have dyslexia in English.

But in recent years, there are studies that showed, that no matter what language system is used, if you’d acquired the ability for reading, then, it would, activate the “reading area” of the left hemisphere.  This particular study utilizes the four separate languages, using the same procedures, to compare the brain scan results, it’s a very, rare interscholastic, international, boundary crossing studies that was, a success.

not my “poster” either…

And so, this just shows, that it doesn’t matter what part of the brain is being used, when you study a language, that your brain is activated when you encounter the various languages out there, and, by exposing yourselves to various languages, you’re keeping your own neurons activated, and, if your neurons are activated, then, they won’t deteriorate.
