The Indonesian nurse’s aide, Mila, shortly after arriving here, in Taiwan to work, she’d discovered that she had cancer, yesterday, she’d gone back to Indonesia for chemotherapy, her boss, Fang, on the eve of her departure, through Facebook and LINE, started a fundraiser on her behalf, in just thirty hours, there were, over a hundred of the citizens here who’d answered the calls, and, they’d managed to raise a total of $320,000N.T. for Mila’s treatment costs after she’d gone home.
Yesterday at four in the afternoon, Mila was on her flight to leave, before she said goodbye, she’d hugged her boss, Fang tight, told him, “thank you”, and, the kindness and the warmth of the Taiwanese people will forever stay with her.
Fang who works in the technology industry said, that his ninety-six year-old grandmother because of a fall had become immobilized, and needed someone to look after her from day to day, his uncle hired Mila who’s from Indonesia to look after her, she’d arrived here in August this year.
Fang said, that Mila who’s twenty-seven years old has a four-year-old daughter in Indonesia, in order to give the best to her daughter, she’d borrowed the money to come to Taiwan as a nurse’s aide. The family described Mila as well-behaved and kind and good-mannered, other than taking care of the elderly, she’d also taken care of the household chores without being asked to, “if we’d stopped her from the chores, she’d get angry at us, the elders loved her very much.”
On Christmas Day, Fang’s father visited his son’s residence, and told him about how Mila wasn’t will, at the start of December, when Mila went in to the hospital because she felt ill, the doctor found that she had cervical cancer, that if she doesn’t undergo the treatment options, there would only be a year of life for her left; Mila borrowed $8,000N.T. from her friend here, and removed the fifteen centimeter tumor, but because there were a serious of chemotherapy, she had to return back to her home country to get better.
Fang said, that these migrant workers, for the sake of livelihoods, left their home, that she’d not gotten a common cold, but something as major as cancer, naturally, the treatments would cost a lot, “I’d wanted to help her out right away.”
He said, that most of his families are all regular nine-to-fivers, didn’t make a ton of money, he’d also had a little over seven million dollars in unpaid home loans, but, he’d donated ten thousand dollars first, and the rest of his families all chipped in the best they could too. Fang had called out to the Facebook community, and used his families and friends LINE, hoping, to get more people, to help this woman out. In just thirty short hours, they were able to raise $320,000N.T. for her.
So, this, is the kindness from her boss, he’d not needed to do this, but, he did, because they family had, taken this hired nurse’s aide as a part of the family, and, when the members of your family are in trouble, you’d do your best to help them out, which was exactly what this man did for this woman whom the family hired to help look after his aging grandmother.
