We Forgot to Teach the Joys of Learning to the Children

The importance of having the RIGHT attitude to learning, form the Front Page Sections, translated…

A lot of the educators and parents usually lacked the depth perceptions, causing the way they educate to drift too far from their original intentions of education, causing a ton of problems; some of the politicians’ dealing with the problems at hand in education caused even MORE problems.  And so, the matter of education became stuck, in the mud for Taiwan.

For instance, a lot of the instructors carried the mindset of “fearing being bothered” and “wanting to save the time and the energy”, would rather have less than more to handle, rarely encouraged the students to make discoveries on their own, or how to deal with dangerous situations; in the anxieties of who’s responsible when something bad happens, the schools mostly prohibited the behaviors as well as the languages too, to make the children grow up under a too safe and secure, restricted environment.

Because of “wanting to save time and energy”, convenience became the top considerations when it came to teaching.  A lot of the elementary school teachers’ desks has a bucket of candy on them, and if the students performed well, then, the teachers would reward them.  Anybody who has a sense in the philosophy of education all know, that this, is classical behaviorism, but, after a long time, what motivated the students to learn would not be the joys from learning the subjects, but from the materialistic rewards.

Some of the parents not only feared that their young would “lose at the starting lines”, needed a head start.  Other than child prodigies, the children has their own speed to learning, but, a lot of the parents had, started the schooling for their young way too early, not only just in the languages, the talents, I’d also seen someone put the teaching styles of graduate schools and implementing it into an elementary classroom, teaching the children to see the motives, to read the research materials.  Early exposures can cause some “false kinds of gifted and talented students”, in the difference between the real abilities and the excessive expectations, it will cause the children to be under great mental stress, and at a certain time, it may also cause a breakdown too.  This teaching style of treating the children’s brains like hard drives not only would it cause the reduction of passions toward learning, but also cause the children to not want to continue their education when they get older.

A lot of the problems in education stems from the missteps in implementation or mistakes, and the smaller problems accumulate into bigger issues.  And so, all the motives of education must be returned to the origins, that way, it won’t drift from the original purpose, the original quality of education.

And so, you do see, how the big picture works here, don’t you?  Because the parents are still way too caught up in the early head start shit, the I want my kids to not lose at the starting point, but hey, parents, how ‘bout not allowing your young, to DROP DEAD BEFORE s/he comes anywhere CLOSE to that finishing line?  Oh wait, we don’t care, all we see, is the now, the ooh, there’s that NASA space program for kids that’ll look so good on my kid’s college applications, the I need my kid to take a ton of talents, to know over FIVE languages fluently, blah, blah, blah, and HOW many languages can YOU speak???  Exactly, and, if you, stupid adults can’t even manage that, then, who the HELL are you, to ask your five, six, seven, eight year olds to!  Just let them grow up at their own speeds, and, so what if Little Sophie still don’t know how the bunny ears worked?  Or how young Matthew can’t do simply addition starting in kindergarten?  That, is what schooling is for, parents!!!
