Life, the Obstacle Course

Without the Strong Structure Fundamentals, How Can the Students Afford to Compete

Recently, a lot of college professors are discovering, that their students’ English grammar usages are awful, one of the professors told me, that once he’d read the articles written by student in the high school levels, it’d, shocked him, because there were, so many, outrageous grammar mistakes, for instance: my going, teached, can played, they is, she are, I’m watch, is make the battery, etc., etc., etc.  He knew, that some of these students, when they’d taken their placement exams, had ranked at the top thirty percentile, meaning, that at least seventy percent of the students are worse than they are in English grammar.  From this example, you can tell, that there are, at least, seventy-percent of high school graduates who are bound, to make these serious English grammar mistakes.  This, is a serious matter, in my opinion, the government should pay more attention to this matter.

Why, did this happen in the first place?  These basic rules of grammar are, easy to understand, so long as the instructors paid enough attention, the students will totally get it.  And now, the students aren’t getting it, simply because a lot of the English language instructors are emphasizing these basic rules of English grammar.  And, furthermore, the question now becomes, WHY, aren’t these teachers, stressing these, most basic rules of grammar?  It’s really simple, because the examinations now, as well the examinations in the past had never, placed emphasis on these basics.

The question from the English placement entrance exams are hard enough as is, but, there are, rarely, any of the basic level questions, for instance, how there shouldn’t be two action verbs placed, next to each other.  And because these basic rules of grammar aren’t tested enough on, the teachers can only, spend more time, to teach the students the more difficult things.  Which had, caused the students, to not know, that they’d made, a ton of errors in the words they’d put down on paper.  They’d successfully entered into high school, then, college, and, as they started in college, the professors there can’t do anything, because the college professors are NOT supposed to be reteaching the students the basics.

And so, I’d kept, begged that the education focuses on the fundamentals, and not the rest, if the students can’t even do well in the basics, it would be, harming them for life.  On the contrary, if the students made nearly NO errors in their basic grammars, then, whether it be conversation or writing, there would be, almost, NO mistakes later on in their lives.  If we talked on theories of writing in English to the students, and in the end, we’d found, that they’d made, the most fundamental of all errors, how, are we, supposed to, teach them then?

The Children’s Tutoring Foundation would test and hire a ton of afterschool help tutors each and every year, and there would be, a TON of college students who came to apply.  But, most of the college students had bad grammars.  Which made the teachers from the foundation sad, because then, they can’t hire them, to help tutor the children.  Think about it, being an afterschool tutor is to be able to teach kids in the elementary level, and, all of these students from the universities can’t even teach the kids in the elementary years, what sort of a competitive edge have they?  Naturally, I still have to stress, that this, is not the fault of the colleges, we must trace the roots of this problem, did we, focus, on the most basic level of grammar skills when the students were in middle school?

Returning to the level of education that’s the most basic, this, is a thought that’s not mainstream, most of the staff in the Department of Education are talking on innovative ways to teach, I’d hoped the members of the Department of Education to understand, that how the lessons are taught are still, up to the separate professors, that the government has NO place, to tell those instructors how to instruct the students, but, the government can’t overlook the fact, that the students didn’t have the fundamentals down pat.  The students have the right, to learn the most basic level of knowledge, the instructors have the responsibilities, to teach that basic level of knowledge to the students, and, the government officials have, the responsibilities, of guaranteeing that the students did, manage to learn all of the basic level skill items.  If the students didn’t get honed op on the basic levels, then, they would all, lack the competitive edge, and, we’d, done them, a great, injustice.

So, because education doesn’t really focus on the fundamentals, I mean, after all, you ARE, in college, and, you still can’t use the grammar that you should’ve learned in your middle school or high school years correctly?  Whose fault is that?  And, because the students didn’t buckle down on their fundamentals, now, the college professors are, taking a WHOLE lot of the class time, which should’ve been used, to TEACH the subjects, to teach the fundamentals to the college students?  Yeah, other than the systems of education being the biggest problems here, don’t you think, that the students should get part of the “blames” here?  But, mostly, it’s still, the teachers’ faults, for not teaching the basics, to not make sure that the students have the basics down pat!
