The ins, and outs of life here, translated…
The auto shop, in order to give back to the clients, they’d held seminars on how to make silvery jewelries, you’d only needed to pay a hundred dollars registration fee, then, you can learn. This sort of a great deal, I’d immediately, signed up for, more importantly, I was looking to taking my second-year middle school son out, so he can get away from the pressures of his academia.
As we’d arrived to the place, most of the participants were there with the whole family, young as kindergarteners, old as older women, there were also, boys my son’s age too, everybody was eager, to show what they have to each other.
As we’d opened up that small packet of materials with great care, I saw a piece of silver, the size of a dollar, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed, what? This small? What can become of it?
In the instruction of the beautiful instructor, my son kneaded the silver dough with great care, step by step as dictated by the instructor, after a few tries, the edges would always break after the silver was flattened, either that it’d, broken right in the middle, he’d raised his hands to the teaching assistant for help. As the teaching assistant saw the dried up silver in my son’s hand, he’d smiled and told him, “the piece you’re holding is $500N.T.s”, I was stunned, that, was when I knew, that a small piece of silver clay costs a thousand, no wonder those handmade silver jewelries are too expensive!
Because he’d wasted too much of the silver clay, with the aid from the teaching assistant, my son made the remaining silver clay into a cone shape, then, put it, into the oven, to bake dry. In waiting for the piece of get baked, there was also, a raffle. Without much luck at all when it comes to these sorts of drawings, I’d sat and listened to the host, call out a list of names, after five of the prizes were, received by others, the sponsor took out the ultimate prize, it was, a silver chain from a name-brand silver jewelry company.
As all the ladies there heard what it was, they’d all, hollered out, I’d not worn any name brand items, but, I’d heard of the brand, and, I’d carried the mind of not going to win, and, all of a sudden, I’d heard my name being called out, I’d walked up, with shock, toward the podium, and heard a ton of sighs, flashing past my ear.
As I carried this turquoise colored small bag back to my seat, my son looked even more excited than I was, because there had never been a first specialty prize winner from our household! The ladies from the table over asked me, curiously and courteously, “Can we have a look at it?”, I’d taken out a small hollowed heart shaped necklace from that small square box, and, I’d heard, sighs and exclamations from all around me.
My son’s silver decoration finally came out from the oven, so tiny, but it was, hard to come by, I’d immediately taken photographs of it, sent the photos to his older brothers who couldn’t be there, to enter into competition.
In the afternoon, my son took his own finished silver pendant to his cram school, continued to, work hard for school, and I’d placed that small paper bag, with the silver necklace, into my dresser drawer, I’d planned, to give it to my younger sister who’s intrigued by these name brand items, to share the surprise with her.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, now, I’d bore witness to a name-brand decoration too!
So, this, is an attempt to connect with her son, the mother took the son to the jewelry making function, and, the son opened up, and, he was able to return to his studies, with a fresher mindset, and the mother also won in the drawing, the most important thing was, that they’d, shared an afternoon together, and, as the kids get older, these instances where you’ll have time to spend with one another is less and less, so naturally, you should, cherish it.
