The Patriotism that Was Bought

On the way home, we’d passed by a McDonald’s, I’d recalled that reminder on my cell phone, so I’d gone into the store with my wife, and used the coupon I had for today, exchanged it for a free burger.  This deal was on that the city’s basketball or hockey team had the lead by the end of the first half, and the locals can get a free small hamburger the next day.  And, as we’d gone in, it was just around the time for the local high school students to go home, and, in everybody’s hands, there was a cell phone, and, there were, almost NO people that were actually buying the foods, with the money.

This sort of a sales technique using the sports competitions, because of the convenience of the cell phones, became a trend in recent years.  Last year, at the McDonald’s in D.C., they’d started working with the Washington Nationals, when the team scored over six points, they’d given out McNuggets for free.  And because there was a McDonald’s at a walking distance from our house, we’d done an experiment, whenever there are the freebies given, we’d gone to the shop, and recorded the instances we were able to get the foods for free.  Although this traveling had made us miss some games, but, in the season this year, we’d gotten a total of sixty-seven boxes of McNuggets………totaling to $402USDs, about $7,000N.T. worth of food originally.  And, naturally, we couldn’t possibly finish all of these chicken nuggets, we’d also found another way, to turn the McNuggets into a Japanese rice platter, how it tastes is unimportant, the important thing was, we’d not, wasted any food.

Of course, McDonald holds no fears of being brought down by this promotion, after experimenting for two baseball seasons, they’d even extended this promotion to other sports.  The ice hockey team, the Capitals, and the Wizards from basketball last season led by the first half in a total of seventy-five games…………

And, toward the end, the writer said, that the American public, because of consuming all these “free foods”, had gained weight as a group, and their patriotism, leading to influencing the world, had contributed to this sort of sports sales technique too.  So, this just shows the psychology of people, how they would rather get free things, even IF they’d already had a TON of the same items at home, and how they don’t CARE if they are able to finish the items in whole, they just ALL want in on the actions.
