The way to live, the values one acquired for life, translated…
A couple of years ago, I’d returned to my alma mater, my classmate who was a professor, his hair had all turned gray; another friend, whom I’d known for several years, who also worked as a professor, his head too, was all white, looking at myself, my hair is, still, black, I couldn’t help, but gloat. Without knowing, that after a few years had passed, one day, my youngest daughter found that there were, grays, on my sideburns, she’d claimed, “dad, you really ARE old!”, my wife a few days ago, examined my beard, and found, that half of my beard was, taken over by the grays too, and said the same thing that my daughter had said to me, “You really ARE getting old!”
Although I’m already sixty, I’m physically aged, but, not mentally. There’s a saying, of “being young at heart”, it seems, that it’s, necessary, to keep that youth inside of you, plus getting enough exercises, and, my moods lifted. Because I’d changed tracks in midlife, started teaching an art class, combining my hobby with my work, up to date, I’d focused on creating, every now and then, I’d gone out, with my materials to do sketches in nature, I’d hauled along my materials up the mountains, walked, toward the oceans, and, I’d gotten something extra each and every time.
In recent years, I’d started, submitting my artwork to be show at various exhibitions, and, gained some things each and every year, and of these recognitions, were commends from public government units, it’d added to my self-confidence in art, which motivated me to keep on sketching and painting.
Although I’m elderly now, but I still have dreams, I’d taken the example of the artist, Liu, who didn’t pick up a paintbrush until he was in his midlife years, when he was in his nineties, right before he was about to put out an exhibition of his work, he’d passed on, in front of his canvas, this, is probably, the best way, as an artist, to bid the world farewell. And so, I will, chase after these dreams of mine, and create, until the very final moments of my life.
This still just shows, that it’s NEVER too late, to pick something up, so long as you’re still able, anything CAN and WILL be done, if you put your mind to it, and this man had remained active since the beginning of his old age, he’d picked up on art, which was a totally new field for him, and, he’d taken the example of other famous artists who’d started out, later in their lives.
