A bump in the road, on studying for the examination here, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

A female student, on her very first English listening test, she got a C, she was so distraught she’d started crying; but, there wasn’t too much time, for her to feel bad, in order to get into the school of her wish, she must dry up her tears, and face the English Listening exams today for a second time.

Before the exams, she’d come into my office, shared with me her way of practicing for the exam, I can tell, that she’d put in a lot of hard work, and spent a lot of time too, but, the results of her practices seemed to not make her improve, it’d made her, upset.

I’d consoled her, that so long as she accumulated the knowledge little by little each and every day, then, she will see progress, although she’d feel defeated, but, take away the grades, her English abilities would be improved by a lot, after hearing my words, she’d nodded her head, told me, yes, I’d learned several new English words!

The examinations are unpredictable, at the same time, cruel too, and, it would be hard, to ask the kids in high school, to work hard, and not see the results of their hard work, but, the accumulation of hard work may not show up on the tests immediately, but, without oneself realizing, you would’ve gained the knowledge.  So, don’t think that all your hard work is for naught.

So, this, is on the accumulation of knowledge, and, the writer is absolutely correct, because we study hard, for the exams, cram all the materials into our brains, for the sake of getting that good grade on our tests, and, after we finished, filling in those “bubbles”, everything we should’ve learned, got lost, because the purpose of us studying, is for passing that exam, but, if you really do try to learn things, then, you will, gain a brand new perspective on things, and, even IF your scores don’t improve that much, you still learned.  So, this, is the importance of learning, for the materials, NOT to just pass those Scantron tests!
