Life, the Obstacle Course

Wedding Day Photo

Translated…

My sister-in-law and her husband took their about-to-be-married daughter, sent us an invite.  The two of them dated for awhile, and my sister-in-law’s husband, because of the guy’s ancestry, kept holding off on agreeing to give the hand of his daughter to him, and finally, they’d caved, but, the mother of the groom started ranting through the matchmaker, causing my sister-in-law to get angry, and wanted to call it all off.  But, in the insistence of the lovebirds, the wedding went according to schedule, but, seeing the facial expressions of my youngest sister-in-law and her husband, apparently, they’re still, angered by the events.

not my photograph…

Seeing how my niece whom I’d watched growing up, is about to enter into this mixed up and messy wedding, I was, truly worried for her.  My sister-in-law told about how when they did their wedding photos, the mother-in-law CUT the number of pictures by half, making her daughter upset.  I think, with the wedding at hand, I should do my best, to help my niece embrace this new stage in her life; I’d had an idea, I’d gone to the storage room, took out that dusty wedding photo of mine, the dress was really bad, and our stiffed bodies had, given everybody a good laugh, and the atmosphere became lighter instantly.

I’d told her, back then, I’d wanted a ton of pictures too, but, my husband who hated getting his pictures had only about twenty shots, then, he refused to be in anymore; and this one, was one that got blown up and framed, but, we’d not thought about how there wouldn’t be any space afterwards to show it, and not long thereafter, it was, put on freeze, in the storage room.

I’d told my niece, that after the marriage, it’s not just gazing up at the starry night skies, holding each other tight, all that romance, instead, it’s the coming on of reality.  That they’re not having enough money for the wedding day photos, the future mother-in-law is thinking for them, that they could save the money for her and her husband, to put to use on more practical things.  All of my friends, my coworkers, after they’d been married, they’d all come to the realization, that those blown up pictures do nothing but take up the space, and the several blown up photo albums all got casted away, somewhere.

not my photo still…

My husband also consoled with his brother-in-law, that loving his daughter means wanting her to live on happily, as parents, during this time, all we can do, is handle everything for her, so she can begin the next stage of her life smoothly.  My husband, who’s normally, not good with his words, had said, the following words that moved everybody, he said, holding tight to the daughter’s hand, and, about to, hand her hand over to, another set of sturdy hands, then, with full blessings, and, that, would be everything.  I saw my sister-in-law and her husband’s eyes filled with tears; it’s in the heart of all parents, wanting their young to be well off, I truly, give my blessing, to this newly wedded couple, hope that they can last until eternity.

This, is very typical, for ladies, on their weddings, they wanted everything, all the lights, the camera, as well as everything that comes with that fairytale dream wedding, but, consider this, after the party’s over, the lights WILL get turned off, and, that, is what this woman is trying to get at, from the observation of the wedding of her husband’s niece, but, you can’t blame these younger generations to wish that everything IS a fairytale…………
