Teaching Using Performances, the Children Understand the Lessons Better

The innovative ways that this instructor came up with, to teach her class here, from the Newspapers, translated…

The noted, “Ms. Flower”, the school teacher, Jia-Hua Lin, had long-term gotten involved in the work of children’s performance arts program, she’s excellent in using games, drama, to open up the process of learning for kids.  Through the Eden Welfare Organization, Lin had gotten the chance, to train the newly migrated parents to express themselves, through drama, and although, working as a homeroom teacher of the distant regions, she’d needed to stay long-term up in the mountains, but she’d still insisted on using drama, helping the kids find their self-confidences, to increase their imagination.

The thirty-eight year old Lin, since she’d graduated from school, she’d started working in the field of education, later on, she’d gotten involved with children’s play theatres for nine whole years.  She’d recalled, that the first time she’d taught the second-generation of newly migrated individuals, she’d found, that there was, a wide variety of family backgrounds, and that those kids are usually from lower income homes, plus the language and the cultural barriers, the mothers weren’t able to assist their young in learning, that the kids from these families are usually shy, lacked self-confidence, and, inarticulate too.

In order to help reach this group of children, in class, she’d tossed the questions that have the kids engaging in making observations, to think, like having the students imagine the various kinds and forms of flowers, and, through their bodies, acting it out, and, she’d encouraged the kids from time to time, she’d also devised questions for the kids to take home, to ask their mothers about, anywhere from foods, clothing, to cultural influences, then, she’d led the class in acting it out.  This sort of interactions not only takes the pressures from the children, the kids were better able to identify themselves, as well as, understanding others too, and, it’d improved how the children related to their parents at home.

Lin had used the example of her student, Ying, who’d made the most progress and breakthroughs.  Lin said, that the very first time she’d met this student, Ying was very shy, never spoken up in class unless she was called on, she was quiet and very reactive, that it’d caused the rest of the class to feel this distance between them.  But, through the three years’ worth of drama class’s games, Ying slowly went from shy and lacked self-confidence, to full of confidence, and willing to share with others.

Lin said, that when she saw the kids’ faces turn from shy and lacking self-confidence to smiling and full of confidence, “I felt, that I’m the one, being given the gifts here”, other than feeling the moving sentiments, she was more than grateful to have her class of kids.

And so, you can see how this teacher was dedicated to get her classroom of children out of their shells, and, she’d used ways that were very leading, instead of being pushy, because she knew, that she needed to allow the kids, to open up to her at their own times, that, was why she’s an excellent instructor, because she was patient, and willing to wait for her students to open up.
