A Mom Who Enjoyed Walking for Exercises

“Kids, time to get up, it’s time, to walk.” As I was just, lost in my sweet dreams, I’d heard mom’s crisp, clean voice, telling me to wake up, I’d, flipped over, wanted to sleep for a little longer, but, my mom was, pushing us both, with her gentle hands.

I’d heard mom told me, that since I was young, I’d had nasal allergies, I’d start sneezing like crazy, or gotten congested, this caused a lot of stress on my parents; they’d found an assortment of methods to want to get my body stronger, in the end, they’d followed the advice of the doctor, taking me outdoors for walking exercises in the early morning, to boost up my immune systems through exercising.  And so, since I was in the third grade, I’d started my exercises from five-thirty to six-thirty in the morning every single day, until I got into the middle school years, as the course load became heavier, then, I’d stopped.  And yeah, my nasal allergies aren’t as serious anymore, sure, and, it’d, accidentally, made my mom took up the hobby of walking for exercise.

Whenever the weekends rolled around, mom would invite us all to go on the morning walks, with the gentle breezes, brushing across our faces, looking up at the blue skies, the white clouds, with the movements of the body, all our troubles, dissipated away.  After the huge earthquake, both my older brother and I studied away from home, and, mom found, that our new place was only 1.5 K away from where she worked, and, she’d started, walking to and from work since.

She said, “every day I’d only needed to head out twenty minutes earlier, and, return home twenty minutes later after work, I’d gotten enough exercises, that’s killing two birds with one stone here!”

One morn, she saw on the newspaper, that the Department of Sanitations stated that walking, jogging, or climbing stairs can help activate the cells in the formation of new bone marrows.  This had, become, another confirmation of my mother’s persistence in walking for exercise, come rain or shine, she’d put on her hat, with a backpack, headed out.  Mom had even told, that she’s afraid of being late to work, and in the evenings, she’d needed to rush home to cook, it can train her speed in walking.  She’d walked for over decades of time now, it’s a wonder, that my mom is, getting healthier by the day, she’s so full of energy too.

Now, mom’s retired, her life became slower, she’d still kept up the routines of walking for an hour; whether it be going for the groceries, shopping at the malls, or visiting with friends, she’d not taken the busses at all.  As for our views, we are naturally, on board, with her belief of trading in the walking exercises for her health as well.

And so, this, is how the kids relate to their mom, by working out together, and, walking IS great exercise, you don’t need any specific equipment, you just need to get yourself outside of your house, and start.
