no, not my picture still…
Translated…
I watched, as Facebook came into being.
Back then, I was studying in the U.S., and, my peers would always add each other on the networking sites. Back then, there were, a couple of popular sites, the most famous one was “Friendster”. After Friendster became an overnight success, it’d faced the challenges in its development, and, the competitors came, one by one, in the end, Facebook too it all. but, I’d not even used “Friendster”, let alone, setting up an account with Facebook, it was my friend, who’d signed up for an account for me, and so, I was forced, to get into it. Being slow to use, and, lazy to keep up too, so, I couldn’t possibly have imagined, how tied to FB my life would become later on, and, Facebook slowly, took over the world.
Rather than saying that Facebook is taking over the world, it’s better to say, that it’s creating the world. Let’s set aside those cute pictures of animals, those funny footages, just thinking about turning on FB, the assortment of newly established information would hit me, how can I not get excited over it. A suggestion can bring about so much discussions? It is not on whether or not you’re agreeing to the viewpoints, being able to get your hands on such information, that, is considered a gain already. When I’d turned into my dissertations, on the day that my student I.D. expired (yes, I am that student, who’d delayed and delayed his final statements until the very last second), other than fatigued, actually, I’d felt more of, a sense of the loss—is it for real? I’m bidding farewell, to my identity as a student of almost thirty years? And, Facebook has that strong active interaction interface, allowing us, to continue to learn endlessly. Sliding the phones, there would be endless number of postings for you to thumb through, especially when you still wanted to use your brains———
Because the more you’d read, and, you’d realized that there are, many flaws to the system. Facebook encourages the now, and the encouragements would come fast and swift, like that fastball you’re unprepared for, but, most of the postings can achieve only two things. It seems, that the heavens had shone that light of hope on you, but, it’s not even, the ghosts, coming to pay you a visit. This, was still under the presumptions of the writers being truthful on what they wrote. In order to make sure of the sources, to prevent the false articles, the misleading, the planting of false evidences, dealing with the assortment of postings, you’d have to have the mindset to dissect everything, and use the way you would approach your master’s thesis or doctor dissertations, to decide whether or not the writer is truthful or not. After you’d been tricked enough number of times, and had become the accomplice for multiple times, in the end, you’d still have to admit, that the world that FB created, is merely a mirror image of the real world. It’s not worse, but it’s also, not that much better, it’s just, that the rate of the information being posted is three, four times fast than the real world is all.
If you still have the minds to create, you’d still have to be on high guards. “I can’t believe, that nobody said anything bad about this design, I’m truly, disappointed!” as the New Paris Opera House opened up in 1875, the architect, Garnier, after he’d read all the reviews, he’d satisfactorily “complained”. What did he do, to satisfy the picky media? It’s actually very simple, Garnier turned the entrance into the hall of the opera house, and so, as the audience went to find their seats, it’s like they’re on stage, and they could all get the satisfactions of being the stars of the shows. After a hundred forty years, the human mind still hadn’t changed that much, it’s just, that you don’t need that much costs. The social networking sites encouraged you to read other people’s perspectives and it also encourages you to voice your own opinions, to allow you to become the leading performer, in someone else’s articles. And now, you’re, itching for that spotlight a little more, longing for, a little more love, and, although Facebook couldn’t stop that itch, but, it can, scratch it somehow, although the way that Facebook scratches your itch may not be easy on the eyes, and sometimes, it’s, pure, outrageous.
But, think about the ironies here. We’re at an era of time when there is a multitude of various points of views, and, accompanying this multiple-opinionated world, is just, the endless number of excuses. And, being uneducated becomes the way of life, and, remaining stupid is also, a personal choice that we all must respect for one another’s sakes. The consumers are the parents, and the parents are, always and forever RIGHT. And, we all say, that needing very little would be the right way to live, but, we all, feel that we need, that extra suit or extra pair of shoes, and so, we’d let go of all our prides. No matter how awful, so long as we can find an assortment of excuses, reasons, to back up that idea, someone will take it up. And, all of that goes to how convincing the words are becoming, everything becomes subjective, and there’s no standards in objectivity, and, when you just, can’t convince someone, you can simply say, that it’s a personal style, and, it’d become, a talisman.
And so, this, is on the adverse effect of FB, because when you posted something, articles, photos, or footages on FB, you’re aiming at someone, viewing, reading your stuff, and, even IF you don’t get positive comments for what you wrote, or streamed live, so long as those number of HITS keep on increasing, you’re okay ‘bout it, and that just goes to show, how FB is keeping our communications down to a minimum, after all, there IS an emoticon for EVERY single feeling across the spectrum, isn’t there, there’s the SMILEY face (J), for when we want to show that we’re smiling, and a FROWN (L) for when we want to show that we are displeased at something, and, everything ELSE in between had also, become pictures too…
