From the Newspapers, translated…
Tsai is a single mother, not from the education majors, but she has a teacher’s certificate, in the hardship of her becoming a school instructor, her son who’s close to her heart is the primary motivation for her to keep working hard toward her goal. She’d prepared for two years, and finally, she’d passed the level three certificate as an executive educational worker.
Tsai said, because she had to work, and prepare for the examinations at the same time, she couldn’t spend as much time, hitting the books as those full-time test preparers who could study for twelve hours a day, she’d be lucky, if she could cram for just two hours a day. And, sometimes, when she’d finally found the time to study, she’s already, very beat, but she’d still worked hard, studied hard.
Tsai said, her son would always go to kindergarten like a good boy, making her feel that she’s not as brave as her son, that she should, keep on persisting in her own studies. And her wonderful son would show her how much he’d cared, told her that he’d go to sleep earlier so she wouldn’t need to worry, “so mom could have quiet time to study”. When she’d hit the books, her son would be very quiet right by her side, playing with his toys, he’s really a good boy, it’d motivated her more.
In order to focus on test prep, Tsai stopped using any technologies, and not watched any television. She is able to find time that she had, like as she drove, she’d listened to the tapes, and when she’d waited to pick up her son from school, she’d hit the books too, she’d not gone out at all.
And, Tsai’s test preparation was on and off, because she’d still needed to fight her ex in the custody of her son, and during which time, she’d needed to visit her attorney regularly, and, before and after the meeting with the attorney, the family would discuss with her, becoming her backup. She said, at first, she’d had a difficult time, communicating with her ex, to the point to breaking down, she was completely spent of her energies, gladly, she had the support of her families, so she could focus on her studies wholeheartedly.
Tsai said, “Taking the National Examinations is a hard path, there are always endless amounts of material to go through”. When she buckled down to study, both her and her families couldn’t see the future, she can only work hard by herself, kept accumulating her abilities, that, is the way, “If a single mother like me can do it, so can you!”
She’d told other single mother who are preparing for the exams this, not get bogged down by one’s own identity, so long as you put your minds to it, it’s just, that you may take longer than the average person to do it. The self is one’s own worst enemy, and to NOT get bogged down by other people’s talking trash about your abilities, and denied your own self-worth.
So, this, is the lesson that this woman had learned, from working so very hard, to pass her examinations, and she is right, life would be, really difficult, if you’re a single parent, and needed to care for your offspring all on your own, but gladly, this woman had the support from her family members, so she could focus on her study, and her son is also very well-behaved for his mom too!
