Life, the Obstacle Course

The Clouds are Up in the Skies, the Blood, Boiling Inside, to My Dearest Child

Translated…

Ah, My Dearest Child

You’d Screamed at Me:

“What, Did You Do, for the Sake of Taiwan’s Future?”

It’s Such, a Good Question

I Kept, Working Hard, Endlessly

But, the Trouble Was———

You Had Yet, to Step on Stage This Life

Back Then, You Hadn’t Come, into Existence Yet

If You Were Born, Eighty, Ninety Years Earlier

No Matter How Good You Were

If You DARED Speak BACK to the Japanese Officers

Your Head, Will Roll Off and HIT the Grounds

And, Your Life Would Have Become Like Seediq Bale

And those Three Million Lives Lost

(Back Then, They Were Young Children Too!)

And, We Wouldn’t Have Been Carrying the Last Names of Our Ancestors: Lin, Chen, Wang, Dai

And We’d be Called: Miyamoto, Tanaka, or Chiyo

Ahhh, My Most Dearest Child

If There Weren’t Those Ancient Wars, with the Bones Piled to Sky High

You and I Would’ve Already Been Taken to Some Darkened Street Alleys, to Be Rid of

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, How Sad, How Sad

If I had, Given My Love to My Elders and My Young

Then, Would I Have, Done Right by Taiwan Then

If I Had the Chance, to Raise Up a Child to Follow the Good Values

I Would’ve Done Right by Taiwan’s Future, Wouldn’t I?

Or, should I Have, Listened to Your Suggestions

Walked, on Your Path, Marched, to the Beat of YOUR Drums

Ahhhhh, My Dearest Child

The World is Shifting, Changing Fast

I Hope, that in All the Societies Out There

The Fathers are Kind, the Sons are Fitting

The Love Between the Siblings Strong and Connected

Anywhere Breaths are Taking, Everybody IS Free to Live

So, this gives you a look back in history, it’s telling us, to not forget our roots, because, if it weren’t for our forefathers, fighting hard for their freedoms, we wouldn’t be where we currently are right now, would we?  Nope!

and no, still NOT my photo!
