Depressed and Wanted to Drop Out of School, the Last Year High School Student Killed Himself by Leaping Off of the Building, His Classmates Described Him as…Always Kept to Himself

Another suicide here, from the Newspapers, translated…

The male student from West Pine High School, Hong leapt off of the fifth floor of the school building, committed suicide, recently, he’d been depressed a lot, before he took the leap to end his own life, he’d told his homeroom teacher, that he’d wanted to take a break from school for a while, the teacher was about to send him to the counselor’s office for some counseling, but, during the lunch hours, she’d received the news of him, killing himself by leaping off the building, and the motives of his suicide is still pending investigation.

The West Pine High School’s secretary, Huang stated, that this student was on the science track, made average grades, and would go to chat with his homeroom instructors and the school counselors often, didn’t hear him talk of any troubles he was having interpersonally or academically, there was also no related medical history of depression.  The school will be offering the students as well as the instructors who witnessed him committing suicide counseling as needed.

Yesterday at about 12:30, the third-year-student, Hong (age 18) fell down onto the back of the school police officer’s quarters, the students and teachers heard a loud bang, rushed over to check and called emergency right away.  As the paramedics arrived, they’d found him semi-conscious, without visible external injuries, they’d used a neck collar and back braces to stabilize him, took him to the hospital, but, after two hours of emergency resuscitation, he still died.

A student who saw the whole thing stated that he saw Hong ran up to the hallways of the fifth floor, flipped over the walls, leapt downward, hit the ground, “He ran upstairs, and jumped, no one else was there!”  the police checked out his seating in class, didn’t find a last note, and found the footprints on the connecting walls of the fifth floor, ruled out foul play.

Based off of understanding, Hong’s father works in China long-term, because his mother worked, he lives in with his grandfather and his uncle.  Yesterday morning, he’d told his instructor that he wanted to drop out, the instructor told him to reconsider it, and because she saw how upset he was, she turned him to the counselor, and, before the counselor had a chance to speak with him, he’d leapt off of the building.

The family told, that lately, Hong seemed depressed, and had told his mother that on the day of his sectional exams, he’d skipped school, and was caught by the disciplinary officer, hoped that his mother could go with him to school to explain to the disciplinary officer why he’d skipped school that day, but didn’t tell his family of his suicidal thoughts at all; his classmates told, that Hong kept to himself a lot, rarely opened up about himself to them.

And because this young man is NOT here to explain why he killed himself, we can only guess, and, I’m still betting, that it’s all the factors, compounded, making him feel too stressed and unable to cope, that, was what pushed him over the edge, and, his life could’ve been spared, but it wasn’t, because he’d gone to ask for help too late…
