Scams here!  From the Newspapers, translated…

The builder, Hsu from Hsinbei City owed debts of over millions of dollars, he was suspected of conspiring with his wife and three children, fourteen years ago, they’d faked their own deaths by driving their car off into the oceans, and had their children receive the money from the insurance claims, the children received over $69 million N.T.s already; two years ago in May, Hsu’s wife died in China, but couldn’t get cremated, that, was when the son came forth.  After the Keelung District Court reviewed the case, they’d sentenced the children as accomplices to the insurance scams, gave them two years nine months to six months in prison.

The verdict pointed out, that Hsu was originally successful in the production of the gas gaskets, seeing how the construction industries is flourishing, he’d invested in the business.  In 2000, because the prices dropped considerably, he’d lost a lot of money, started borrowing from his friends and relatives, as well as the loan sharks, in over ten million dollars in sum.

Hsu was stuck with economic troubles, couldn’t find a way out, his wife remembered the insurances they’d taken out awhile ago, originally, they’d planned to commit suicide so their kids could make the claims, but the two children couldn’t bear to see their parents end their lives that way, the eldest suggested that they faked their deaths, to scam the money from the insurance companies.

At the end of July of 2001, the Toraji Typhoon passed through Taiwan, Hsu drove his wife to the site, to check out the place, their two sons met them there, the eldest son pushed the car down the cliff, making it look like Hsu and his wife accidentally drove off of the Cliffside, and were taken away by the oceans, then, took the parents to the rental place in Danshui to hide out, then, four years later, the couple took along their forged passports to China, to hide out.

Since August of 2001 to November of 2005, the children filed claims with Cathay Insurance and received over sixty million dollars N.T., plus the insurances from the cars, the labor insurances, they’d received over $69 million N.T.s, and after the debts were paid up completely, the children divided up the money amongst themselves.  And, there was still a little over forty million dollars that hadn’t been approved by the insurances yet from Cathay Insurance.  Their youngest daughter didn’t take part in any of this, but, she knew about it, but because she was only a college student, waiting to retake her entrance exams, couldn’t help out with the household finances, and couldn’t stop her older siblings from scamming, she’d worked with her older siblings, to scam the insurances as well.

This originally well-thought-out scam went bust because Hsu’s wife died, and, the family couldn’t prove her identification, and couldn’t get her cremated, the father and son felt bad about not burying the mother and the wife, last year, the four involved members of the family turned themselves in.  After the Keelung District Attorney’s office examined, they’d charged them on conspiracy, and falsifying of documentation, but because Hsu’s wife is already dead, they’d dropped the charges against her.

After the courts examined the evidences, they’d gave the three men of the family two years nine months for being accomplices in the scams, and four months in prison for the forgeries of the documents, which were reduced to two months, and they can pay a fine for it.  The youngest daughter was found guilty, for being an accomplice to the scams, and the judge already mandated that she pay the little over fourteen million dollars she’d already received BACK to the insurance companies, and she received one year in prison, and her term was reduced to six months, she could pay a fine for the six months.  The case can still be appealed.

Look how thought out this elaborate scam was, and, in the end, it still got found out, and, the price they pay was???  Jail time, and, had the man only FACED up to his economic difficulties like a MAN, instead of trying to RUN from his problems, then, none of this SHIT would’ve happened, would it???
