She Woke Up, from a Four-Year-Long Comatose, to the Theme Song of Doraemon

here’s the picture

MIRACLES are still happening here, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

Doraemon is NOT only the savior of his owner, Nobi Nobita, but also, the savior of a severely comatose woman in Japan. A Japanese woman was in a car wreck four years ago, her comatose indicator dropped to a level three, she’d become comatose long-term. Two years ago, her families started using music therapy methods with her, out of their expectations, that the theme song from Doraemon had cuased her to react, and now, not only is she out of her coma, she can also sing, and eat on her own.

The Taipei Medical School yesterday helped the seminar, “Hearing the Consciousness of the Brain, Dancing with the Rhythms of the Music”, the man who used the artistic methods to treat this woman, Professor Noda from the Osaka Art’s University said, that before the treatments, the patient was in a severe comatose, and because she used to be a musician, that, was how her family found him, to give her musical therapy.

Started in 2013, Professor Noda and his music therapy team started playing the theme song of Doraemon, SMAP’s “the Only Flower in the World”, the woman started responding, and recently, her progress showed great improvements, she not only can walk now, she can also hum along the theme song of Doraemon, and started playing her piano too, it’s like, she’s an entirely different person from before the treatment phase.

The treatment using music primarily used the ups and downs of the notes to stimulate the brains.  Professor Noda said, that the music used must have strong rhythm, and is from the patient’s eighteen to twenty year old’s era, primarily because at this age, the brain works the best, and the strong rhythms were used, hoping to get the patient to respond.  For the eighties generation in Taiwan, the tunes of Jay Chou can be used.  Other than music, the rhythms of the body is very important as well, Dr. Noda stated, that music therapy works best with external brain injury patients, those who have hematomas, and aneurysms, with problems in their motor cortexes, and if the treatments started within sixty days of the injuries, the effects would be the best, but, if the treatment had continued four times and still no progress, then, the patients should seek out other methods.  In the past, he’d given treatment to one hundred twenty people who suffered external brain injuries, fifty-percent showed improvements in their motor functioning, and thirty-eight percent started talking.

The research center manager of Taipei Medical School’s Neural Damages and Regeneration, Chiang stated, that there’s very little examples of music, using to treat patients who are in steady comatoses, that the Taipei Medical School will work with Professor Noda, to get a better understand of how music therapy can stimulate the areas of the brain, hoped to find the chance of recovery for those who’d suffered strokes, whose neurons deteriorated, and those who suffered from brain injuries.

And so, this, IS the power of music, and, music have healing power, and, in the above case, the woman was able to wake up out of her comatose, because of the cartoon theme song she was played, but, this is only one successful case, and there’s still MORE that needed to be researched, to conclude the effectiveness of music to heal patients with brain traumas.
