Youth intervention programs, from the Newspapers, translated…
The sixteen-year-old, En-En is intrigued by all things Korean, back in his middle school years, in order to buy the Korean brand clothes, and getting his Korean style haircuts, he’d often skipped school to work to get the money, and gotten into many fights, became a headache to his families, but after he’d graduated from middle school, he’d entered into the Youths Light On Program provided by the government, and through the courses the program offered, and being given internship opportunities, he was able to find the direction in his own life, and had now, found a full-time job, and managed to get that motorcycle he’d wanted a long time through paying the installments himself.
The person in charge of the youth sector, Tsai stated, that the Youth On Light Program allowed the middle school graduates between the ages of 15 and 19, who are not continuing in school or working, through the nonprofit counseling, getting involved in the nine-month course, through the four months long discovery classes, two months’ work experiences, to help the youths who’d lost their directions in life find their ways again.
The Shepherd Youth Care’s counselor, Lee stated, that as En-En just arrived to the foundation, he’d always showed this lack of care and concern for everything around him, but, he’d actually, longed to learn; through the courses offered by the foundation, En-En was able to open up his heart, and became willing to work with others, to change his originally careless attitude, and, for the entire four month of the courses, he’d not missed a single day of class, and he’d even received the “Never Absent Award” as the trainings came to an end.
At age sixteen right now, En-En works in the food industries, his hard working and good work ethics had gained his store manager’s commends, and, En-En also changed his habits of spending money, and started to save up, and, before he buys something, he’d first, planned out his own finances, awhile ago, he’d used the money he saved up, to buy a motorcycle in installments. En-En said,, that his goals now, is to make even more delicious foods, “I will challenge myself in the future, to work in a gourmet restaurant.”
Shen (a false name) who’s covered with tattoos, in his middle school years, he’d become truant, plus he’d enjoyed getting into fights a lot, when the school students and teachers heard his name, they were all, scared. Shen also went into the “Light On” program, and, in the unrelenting cares and concerns by the counselors, he’d slowly opened up, and became willing to let others in, and changed his violent behaviors too, and now, he’d returned back to school again, went into the auto-mechanic department of a technical high school to study.
And so, all these teenagers were needing is a little bit of guidance, someone who’s not going to give up on them, just because of their slip ups, which was what their families couldn’t provide, and yet, they were able to find the help that they’d needed from a government program for youths.
