The Japanese soap operas of “The Games of the Families”, “The War in Proposing for Marriage”, described the “cocoonists”. The “cocoonists” referred to those who have no physical disabilities, but they’d chosen not to live their residences, those who escaped interactions with the outside world. It’s a trend that shouldn’t be overlooked by not just Japan, Asia, but also, in Europe and the Americas too.
The doctor Takeshi Tamura who worked to offer assistance to the “Tokyo Help Network for the Cocoonists” yesterday came to Taiwan, to speak on his new book, “Saving the Cocoonists”. He’d pointed out, that the cause of cocoonists is due to the lack of the father figure when the individual is growing up. And, fathers are the magical cures for the cocoonist situation, “If the fathers can establish a great relationship with their young, then, the children who are cocoonists can, walked out, into the open world, instead of keeping themselves, locked up, inside their home environments.”
In Japan, if you don’t go out and socialize for six months, then, you’re considered a “Cocoonist”, and, it’s different to the “Stay-at-Homers” who are taken in, by specific areas of their lives, the latter is staying at home voluntarily, while the former live in fears of not being able to conquer the fears they have of interacting with others, and they’d become, trapped, inside their separate cocoons.
And so, this just shows, how the fathers DO have an effect on their children, as this doctor noted that those whose fathers were absent when they were growing up, have a higher chance of becoming a “cocoonist” after they’re grown up, and it still has to do with socialization.
nope, still NOT my photograph either…
