Because here, NOBODY has that worldly view of things, and besides, politicians ARE, ruining this country here, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
As a foreign son-in-law of Taiwan, I kept receiving the warmth of the cares and the concerns from the people here, to me, it’s an amazing blessing, to NOT need to worry about my personal safety when I go out every single day.
Although in the past decade or so, I’d treated this country as my “home” already, but, there are still, a lot of the things that confused and shocked me. For instance, the entire world is zooming in to the troubles in Syrian and Iraq; millions of people are dead, and the escapes of even MORE refugees, seeking a place of safety, of shelter, but the media here, only cared about the titties card’s incident, and this confuses me greatly!
Actually, the Taiwanese people are really generous and kind. The Korean War in the 1950s, Taiwan had opened up its front gates, and took in those who are willing to come here to live, who are originally freed; in the end of 1970, Taiwan also took in Vietnamese refugees. And you can trace to even back into the Ming Dynasty a lot of the poor farmers came from China, and found their new lives here. I hope now, we can open the welcoming doors, to those refugees who are poor right now.
I suggest, that Taiwan can accept in a thousand students or graduate students (because of the conflicts, they couldn’t possibly continue their education anymore), to come over to Taiwan to work on their high quality masters or doctors degrees, in the future, after their civil war is over, we should encourage them, to head back home, to rebuild their country. Although, Taiwan isn’t considered as a “power” by European nations, but, I believe, that we can utilize our advances in high-tech, and, we are, in a special place, to do this.
Naturally, Taiwan must come OUTSIDE the box, in order to handle this matter well too, in order to accept students without the printed transcripts, we must have a certain level of faith, even though, there would be some lies. If we stand on their perspectives, I’m sure, that I would also want my children to get a chance of bettering their education by being given an opportunity such as this.
This just shows, how NARROW the view of the world that the people running THIS government is, and, this, had been the primary problem of WHY Taiwan hadn’t caught on track with the rest of the world yet, because we’d kept ourselves, locked up, inside this small circle, and, we’re just, WAY too bogged down by what’s happening to us as individuals and as a country, and NOT focusing on that there’s a BIGGER picture, what’s happening, in the international realm of things, and this would probably be W-H-Y, Taiwan won’t catch up to the rest of the world, NOT for a very long time still…
