Last Year, There Were Six Thousand Teens & Children Runaways, Among Them, a Seven-Year-Old Boy

Based off of the statistics of the Department of Police, in 2014, there were at least six thousand children and adolescents who ran away on their own, on average, there are twenty kids who ran away from home and vanished.  The Children’s Welfare League observed that in the earlier times, when children went missing, it’s usually due to getting lost or being forced away from home, but in recent years, it’d changed to the kids, actively running away from home, which was the biggest reason of children gone missing, and, the age had declined too, and, there was even a case where a seven-year-old child ran away from home.

The Children’s Welfare League took the sample of 143 kids who had priors in running away, and found that fifty-seven percent of these ran because of the interactions in their homes, and that family plays a vital role, compared to the influences of the outside world, and, forty-one-percent ran away because of filial relations, but, most of the issues are related to having different values than the parents’, and how parents are restricting the children from meeting up with one another, as in instances in dating.

The information center manager of the Children’s Welfare League, Hsu pointed out, that now, children are getting into hi-tech products younger and younger, and, the chances of them meeting someone online is also increased greatly too, and their social circle widens at a very early age, plus the parents are all working, too busy, without much time to accompany their offspring, the interactions between parents and children are more estranged than ever, and, the pull from the outside world, plus the push from within the families themselves, had lowered the runaway age to fifth or sixth grades in the elementary years.

The parenting expert, Yang said, that parents should set up a “positive and active” method of managing the families, that parents should start from the children’s interests and hobbies, and start building up activities that the entire family can do together.

So, the runaways are caused by the families, as well as peer pressures, but, families play a KEY role in why those kids are running away, and, it’s EXACTLY because of how modern day families stopped functioning, that the society is now, faced with a TON of issues like teenage pregnancies, truancies, and, the age of criminals, dropping down, to the teenage years too, it’s ALL the families, because the families stopped functioning like they’re supposed to, as, families ARE the most basic unit of a society, and, when families start to malfunction, guess WHAT happens to the societies?  Exactly!
