The graduates out of N.T.U. are difficult to hire?  The N.T.U. upped its ranking in the world’s QS University Rankings, the scores are up, but the satisfactions of the employers had declined.  N.T.U. stated yesterday, that they will be looking into the thoughts of the employers, and they’re thinking of setting up cross-field courses to help make up.  The students however, believed, that the employers are letting their stereotypes get the better of them.

The N.T.U.s Research Director, Lee stated, that the students from N.T.U. are more opinionated, lacked the ability to communicate.  He said, that the interactions within the campus clubs, fraternities, sororities aren’t enough, that a department will be set up especially, to help the students better their communication abilities, so the students can learn to work together, as well as learning the academic information at the same time.

A professor who teaches in N.T.U. said, off the records, that as he’d tried to communicate with the students, the students would start disrespecting him.  There was the issue of members of the student counsel, wanting the teaching assistants to be placed in the school’s collective insurance plans with the Department of Labor, the student shouted at the professor, “I’m the chairperson, you have NO right to call me by my name.”  the incident of the leadership course, with the students getting the donated money to fulfill the monetary requirements of the trip also got the public to believe that the students in N.T.U. are pompous, and it’d given a negative tone to the students from N.T.U. too.

The president of the N.T.U.s student organization, Chen believed, that the students from N.T.U. are opinionated, with more creativity; after all, it is, the number one school across Taiwan, the employers may feel, “the graduates of N.T.U. all graduated top of their classes, are very proud, and ignored the orders of the bosses” but all of these, are merely, stereotypes.

A graduate from N.T.U., Jiang said, “You can’t categorize all the students based off of the school’s reputations, you should treat the students as individuals, see how they carried themselves at work singly.”  He believed, that maybe, the employers had higher expectations for students out of N.T.U., hoped that they could carry out their jobs better, and this would help up the level of self-motivation for the employed too.

Comparing to N.T.U., the owners of enterprises held graduates from Chenggong University in higher regards.  The Assistant Dean of Chenggong University, Huang analyzed, that the professors must lead the students, to get more involved with the various industries, to cross the barriers of their own expertise, and the students will “learn while doing”.  Huang also said, that the students from his university may not be the best of the best, so, they’d worked extremely hard, which is what makes their employers enjoy having them to work with.

And so, it’s still, ALL in the attitude, because N.T.U. is the BEST university in Taiwan, so, it’s easy, for the students to be too proud of themselves, causing this feeling that they’re “untrainable” by their bosses, and, it is a stereotype, because there are, good students who become great employees all over the world.
