The love and support from his friends, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

“Let’s all shave our heads!” the community security guard, Lin is in his fourth stage of lung adenocarcinoma, last year, the cancer cells had metastasized to his brains, he started going through radiotherapy and lost all his hair, his six buddies from the patrol squad all shaved their heads, to show their support in his fight against cancer, it’d moved Lin very much.

The forty-eight year old Lin was a farmer, fifteen years ago, he’d gotten involved with friends from other local villages to set up a security squad and patrolled the streets in the evenings, and had helped catch a thief, and also found a fire before it’d spread, and put it out, saved live, kept the community safe and sound.

Two and a half years ago, Lin couldn’t stop coughing, and, after he was checked, the doctor found a tumor of about seven centimeters in size in his lungs, and the doctor told him that the cancer had metastasized to his bones, that it wasn’t operable, he’d recalled back, how his mind just went blank, started sweating cold sweats, couldn’t even stand back up.

Lin told his patrol squad, that those who were diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma usually don’t live long, that he might only have a few months left.  The member of his patrol team, Ou told him, to ignore what others’ experiences are telling him, because “you’re different”; and others also encouraged him to undergo target therapy, to keep his mood up, to not lose hope.

In the two years, the members of his patrol team would accompany him on exercises, even if it rained, they’d driven him to the elementary to walk the hallways, rain or shine, they’d used their actions to show him, “a group of friends will always and forever be by your side”.

This April, Lin went into the hospital because he had headaches, and, the doctors discovered, that his adenocarcinoma had metastasized to his brains, and he’d begun his chemotherapy treatments.  Last month, his chemotherapy session was finished, he’d lost ALL his hair, the team member, Chun Hong Ou-Yang saw, patted Lin’s bald head, said, “it’s cooler without hair, I’ll be right there with you on that!”, and afterwards, he’d immediately had his head shaved, to show support for his friend.

After Chun Hong Ou-Yang shaved his head, people would joke with him, “Are you becoming a monk?”  he’d told them truthfully, “my friend had cancer, lost his hair, and I want to be by his side for it.”  The other team members, Tsai, Lin, Lin, Tsai, and Tsai saw, the very next day, they showed up, with bald heads as well, “We are helping Lin fight his cancer spiritually!”

“I’d started crying!”, Lin said, seeing how his buddies were so supportive, he couldn’t help himself from crying; with this group of good friends, he’d had an amazing life, and in the future, he will work hard, to fight his own cancer.

So, the support of his good friends had given him the hope and the strength to fight his cancer harder, and, this just shows, that this group of men are going, ALL out, to show support for their buddy, and, says WHO men can’t make life-long friends, they are, BFF’s for life here!
