She’d heard them say, “it’s just hair”, then, they’d go into how energetic she looked, despite what she was going through. Her cancer returned, and this time, the doctors were taking a more “active” approach, they put her on chemotherapy right away.
As she sat in front of her dresser mirror, she’d placed that hairbrush on top of her head, then, stroked, downward, then, she was, shocked to find, several patches of her hair, rooted, off of her head. As she sat in silence, staring, her husband walks in, he placed his hands on her shoulders, said to her, “it’s just hair”.
But, it wasn’t, just hair, the hair loss from her chemotherapy, was MORE than that! She’d recalled how when she started getting sick, before the chemo started………
It’s just hair, they’d tell me, and I know it too, that trading the loss of my hair, for a chance at a cure, is more than worth it, I know that! But, I just can’t, quite adapt my own mindset to feel positive about becoming BALD, trading it in, for my health.
It’s just hair, but, it’s not, it’s, MORE than hair, it symbolized how you were once healthy, and, you are now, ill, pale, weakened, by your cancer, and, nothing will BE the same, even AFTER your cancer DID go into remission………
