Life, the Obstacle Course

The Difficult Part About Turning Education Around is in the School Instructors’ Attitude in Teaching

Because you were taught, using the original methods, and you’d been, teaching, using the exact same methods you were taught by, for so long, so, naturally, change wouldn’t come easily, from the Newspapers, translated…

The education symbiosis method of Professor Sato from Japan broke the traditions of “professors lecturing on the podium, students listening in the seats”.  In the city of Tainan, the teaching styles are put into practice last December, the Educational Guild’s Secretary in the city of Tainan, the elementary school instructor, Hou stated, the hardest part about putting the theories into practice is changing the mindset of the teachers and the parents, but, the students are “kept busy in class”, it’d elevated their interests in the courses, and, clearly, there was, a huge increase in the grades they’re making too.

Thirty years ago, in Japan, the classrooms put into practice the “Collective Learning Methods” where the students are separated into discussion groups, replacing the traditional method of lecturers talking.  The key players in the classrooms changed from teachers to students, the original row seating arrangements changed into the open circle seating arrangement, the students were separated into groups of two to six, to make discussions.  There are, a lot of teachers who’d gone to Japan, to learn about this method, and, the elementary and middle schools of Hsinbei City started using this classroom seating arrangement in the classes back in 2012.

Hou said, that since 2014, there were eighteen elementary schools, four middle schools, that are on the trial period of this brand new way of teaching, and, all the subjects: Chinese, Social Studies, Math, Science, English, all worked very well in this setting.

And, even in physical education, the kids can discuss how the game is played, then, learned to play the sports, and, this way of instruction is bringing about better performance.

The Communitive Learning Body allowed the students to separate themselves into groups, and, in the process of the discussions, initiated by the students, the students are stimulated to think more, and, they’re asked, to express their own thoughts on the subject matter.  Since the trial period had begun, the teachers see that the logic thinking abilities in the students had increased, and, the grades in the academic subjects are three points higher than before on average.

The elementary school teacher from Tainan, Lu in his Chinese lessons, pushed forth this method of learning, and Lu said, that the communitive learning process stressed on how the students are learning from one another, in the smaller groups, those students who had already mastered the lessons can help students who are falling behind.

But, there are, those, more introverted, quieter students.  Lu said, he’d made the students listen to what other classmates say, “they’d start to learn by modeling”; he’d separated the students who are friends into groups, that way, there’s less pressures when it comes to learning.

And so, this, is a BRAND new classroom that’s being set up, as it’d shown that it works, having the kids learn from one another, because, when you’re listening to the teachers Y-A-P, you’d taking a more passive approach in learning, you’re just sitting, taking notes, and not really getting your hands-on, but, this new method of learning allows the students to engage in their own thoughts, to learn from one another, it’s an interactive approach to learning.
