Turn it All Around! The Elderly Were Able to Make the Final Stage of Their Lives Beautiful

The observations of a nursing home, from the Newspapers, translated…

Yesterday was the “Fortieth Anniversary of Hsinbei City’s Ren-Ai Home for the Elderly”, the elders who live here are mostly from low-income backgrounds, abandoned by their children, or in need of emergency placement, elderly over the age of sixty-five, with difficulties, they came to Ren-Ai Home for the Elderly, and found new hopes, some were lucky enough, to find love again, others are getting active, involving themselves with the volunteer unit, the aging dancers, finding that zest in their lives again.

“Yesterday was our second year anniversary!”, the seventy-six year-old, Chun-Fa Lee had lived in Ren-Ai Home for seven years and five months, he was all alone as he’d entered the home, but two years ago, he’d met the seventy-two year-old Grandma Chen, they’d learned about one another’s life, showed care and concerns toward one another, promised to take care of each other for the bottom half of their lives, on the day they wed, it was, the anniversary of the nursing home, and they were, the fifteenth couple that met at in this nursing home.

Chun-Fa Lee said, Grandma Chen was from Hunan, after she came here, she was married before, but, as she turned elderly, she was, abandoned by her family, that, was why she’d come to Ren-Ai, “She’s very beautiful, with a flair about her, and everybody likes her.”  The Ren-Ai Nursing Home was kind enough, to put the elders into the same room, but, to keep the other residents not feel jealous, he’d only held her hand, when they took their strolls away from the home.

Yesterday, Lee and his dancing troupe, the “Super Elder Dance Team” cross dressed and danced the can-can, made every member of the audience laugh, he said, that he is still very able-bodied, other than practicing the dance routines, he is also involved in the volunteer team, every week, he’d made meal deliveries to the elderly who live alone in Jingshan, Wanli, optimistically, helping those who are like him.

So, this, is how a nursing home SHOULD look like, the elders there are continually, socializing, staying active, as they age, and, some had even found love.
