The pair of brothers from Mazu set up their company, Hsu-Huei, stuck to their guns for two years, weathered through the hardships at the beginning of their self-employment ventures, and managed to get the major companies of Timberland, Kangol, and Nike to sign with them.
The brothers Liu grew up in poverty stricken backgrounds, followed their father out to sea to catch the fishes, to mend the broken nets, and, they’d gotten excellent at seamstress work, they’d set up their company, “Hsu-Huei Needlework”, and their company makes hats, scarves, for the international names, they are, the miracles of the textile industries.
“Don’t think that it’s no big deal, mending up torn up nets, if you’d sewn one stitch wrong, then, you’d have to undo what you’d already done, and start all over again”, Liu, who’d started mending up broken nets for his family at the age of six told, that mending the broken nets needed patience, and precisions, from picking up the wooden needle, to threading the needle, to see the patterns of the fishnets, needle by needle, sewing up the holes, cutting off the thread, it would take him, so many hours, to complete, mending up one net.
“While the other kids are playing kick ball, I’d stayed at home, to mend up the nets”, Liu smiled and told, this sort of a childhood, had become a part of his method of trying to make every single product by himself first.
After Liu got out of the military, he first entered into a textile mill to work, after a few years, the brothers decided to strike out on their own, wanted to instill the concepts of mending up the torn fishnets into the textile industries, they’d first, made hats, for other name brand companies, when they first started, they’d had to stay up all night long, to figure out the needle work patterns.
The third year after their company was set up, they were crushed by the bank loans, and, because they couldn’t get enough invoices, they’d wanted to give up altogether, but, “the customers said to us, that with good quality products, we will surely get more order slips.”, after they stuck it out for two years, the international brand, Nike took notice of their sewing skills and sewing styles, they’d signed an over sixty million dollar invoice with them, and, their company was on the rise.
Because they had good reputations, they’d started getting noticed by the international brands, Timberland, Kangol, Nike, New Era, and other well-known name brands of the world started finding Hsu-Huei to help manufacture their items, and, they’d also developed new lines of products, based off of the needs of their buyers, and, from a five-employee company, becoming an international, large-scale enterprise.
“We never tell our clients we can’t do it, we just tell them, we’ll try it”, getting to know the brands, kept up with the trial and errors, the attitude of constantly innovating, it’d allowed them to develop a specialty kind of needlework, making them into the ONLY company that can manufacture the Kangol hats.
“To make a brand known, you must understand why and how the brand is unique”, Yi-Hsin Liu took out the British brand, Kangol knitted hat, each and every one of the hats stood up straight on the tables, and, no matter how they were all twisted, crushed, flattened, at the end, they could all, “stand up straight”, just like the core values of Hsu-Huei.
Imagine how many trial and errors these brothers must have gone through, to finally find the way that works, and, it’s because of their not getting beaten by their failure, their persistence, that’s made them so very successful, and, it’s because of the high quality of their work, the attitude to which they took to work, that’s gotten them the commends from the international companies too.
