The third-generation of my family are coming of age, my older siblings started from worrying about their kids’ performances in school, to worrying about their work, their marriages. Every time when my second eldest sister mentioned her daughter, Kiki, she’d always, sighed.
My second eldest sister has three children, Kiki was the only daughter, naturally, she’d become, the apple of her father’s eyes. My second brother-in-law’s family has some assets originally, later on, he’d gotten into real estate, for years, he’d run the company himself, and hoped that his children could take over after him.
After Kiki graduated college, she’d worked at a restaurant, the service industries are hard, and from time to time, she’d met up with bad customers, and she’d complained endlessly after she’d gone home. Other than feeling bad about his daughter’s situation, he’d told his daughter to quit and come back home, he said, “It’s not like dad can’t afford to keep you!” after Kiki moved back home, she’d started working as a receptionist for her father’s company.
But, in these couple of years, being bombarded by the chain real estate companies, there’s only limited private markets, so, my second eldest brother-in-law’s business is slowly, dying, and, Kiki is now, sitting at home, doing nothing. At the age of closing in on thirty, Kiki lacked real life working experiences and the interaction with her peers, she’d become a stay-at-home geek, and became more and more distant from the real world, she’d not come to the family gatherings anymore either.
Not only Kiki, my second eldest sister’s eldest son, Wu, was kept close by by my second brother-in-law. Wu is well-behaved, after graduating college, he’d followed his father, to take up the trade of becoming a realtor, he shared the same problem as Kiki, without the contacts from his peers, and the experiences in real life. My second eldest sister believed, that the younger generations should roll around in the world a bit, if Wu can work for a chain real estate agency first, after a few years, he had the experience, then, he can take over his father’s company, but, my second eldest brother-in-law didn’t see it fitting.
Only my second eldest sister’s youngest son kept to his ways, worked as a security guard, while preparing for his government position exams; in his work, he’d often interacted with others, he’d become better adapted compared to his younger years, but, sometimes, loving children too much will spoil them, I’d gotten a depth of view in examining the lives of my nieces and nephews.
So, this is precisely W-H-Y, a lot of those CEO of the huge corporations don’t want their kids to work for the company, they’d rather their young go out there, experience some hardships first, then, after the kids had gotten baptized by life, then, they may be more than ready, to take on overseeing the workings of the parents’ companies, and, the parents here are just, spoiling their young.
