That day, I rode in the taxi with my mom, the driver was a clean-looking younger woman.
She’d ushered us into her cab, and, on the ride to our destination, we’d carried on in conversations. She said, that originally she was a housewife, after she got divorced, she had nothing. Her mother saw that she couldn’t possibly make ends meet by her working as a babysitter, taking care of her two elementary school age children, asked her to move back home, and, encouraged her to return to the workforce again.
Being derailed from the workforce for many years, she feared, that she lacked the competitive edge, she’d decided to become a cab driver. She’d loved chauffeuring her kids to and from school, and is very confident about her driving skills, and, driving a cab has a whole lot less stresses than sending in her résumés all over the places too, and she could have flexible schedules, to look after her young.
Her younger brother gave her a cab as a tool of her entrepreneurship, she was more than grateful to him for it. Because she is a careful driver, kind and personable to her clients, a lot of the neighbors loved calling on her to drop their children to school or have her take them to and from work, she has a steady clientele.
She thought that she was more than lucky, not only was she able to have the care and concerns, and the supports from her families when she most needed it, she’d also found a lifestyle that’s fitting to her needs, she’s filled with hope for her future.
So, you CAN see, how single mothers are strong, how hard-working they are, like this woman, she’d had a positive attitude, and people all around her feel it and, they’re more than willing, and able to, help her out.
