Wen-Hwa Wang: What are the pros and cons for working for a large scale corporation ( staying at high-end hotels on trips, being able to write off your dining, secret office affairs, etc., etc., etc.………)

Xiao-Wei Zhong: there are so many interesting things about the large-scale corporations—flying business class on trips, finding a vacation resort for the business meetings, staying at high-end hotels, dining in Michelin restaurants while my work picks up the tabs, secret office love affairs, etc. etc., etc……yeah right!  All of these, are all, in your dreams; even if we’d gotten the chances for one or two of those things, everything got cleaned out after the financial downturns of 2008.

Actually, the biggest perk of working for a large-scale corporation is that it can give you a wide enough horizon, open up your eyes, so you can see how large the world is, beyond your small desk.  Of course, in the bigger organizations, you will get to see an assortment of interactions and leadership characteristics—there was the models of Sun Tzu, those who lived by the values of Confucius, the bosses who’d treated the subordinates well, with respect; and there are those whom like Han Fei-Tzu’s “slaughtering those who challenges you”, those who’d pulled on your legs, the professional snot-nosed bosses too.  The more you see, the less you’d feel, and, your lips, sore, hands, slowed.  Actually, thinking back, I was actually one of those who just take it as it comes, in my entire career, when I’d had to play the second fiddle, the purpose of my work started clearing up for me to see.

I’d often treated the “second-in-command” on the job as comparable to the spare wheels: the number twos are meant to work hard, do everything the hard ways.  We, the number twos, the losers are all, used to taking in all the stresses, and cussing at the same time on the job.  We don’t have our interpersonal connections, there’s NO way we can possible climb up based off of relations, and we also couldn’t manage to weasel our ways from paying a penny less in tax, we rode on the escalators in the MRT stations, we’d moved to the right side automatically.  Everywhere we are, we’d gotten assigned to the highest part of the bell curve, and, even as we’d gone out to karaoke with our coworkers, when we couldn’t get the mic, we’d still be content, singing the backups.

But, maybe, someone would be like how Hueitzu talked trash about Chuangtzu, then, I have nothing to comment—plus, based off of the historic revolutions, when the nationalist won, we are to give credit to a spare too, Madam Chen, hehe!

Wen-Hwa Wang: Hsiao-Wei, when you ride the escalators in the MRT stations, you MUST stay to the left and walk quickly!  There’s NOT enough chance to work out as is, you MUST take this opportunity!

I want to differentiate the “Number two type work post” and “number two type person”, doing the “number two work posts” right now, it helps you accumulate on the experiences, later on, you will get the chance to shine.  Like how some of the spares had put up with being someone’s whore, hoping, to one day, eliminate the first wives, and become legal.

On the opposite, there are a lot of “number two characters” who are doing the jobs of the “big shot bosses”.  This isn’t at all that bad.  The varied organizations, held different expectations for their leaders.  How says that the bosses must be able to commend the wind and the clouds?  In certain organizations, the bosses that don’t do anything are the best kinds.  You can’t ask those who are used to being “number one” to do nothing, and this time, “number two characters” would do better in the work posts!

But, working for a long period of time, and you’d realized, that bigshot, number two, bosses, employees, winners, losers, had nothing to do with the abilities, or the hardworking mannerisms.  A lot of the times, luck and timing are at play.  If you can see this clearly, then, you’d become more humbled, we are NOT as special as we think we may be.  So we can only, work hard every single day, slowly, accumulate what we want in life.  In a company, it only matters, if we can make things happen, no matter how high your work posts, you are, number two.

So, this, is how the job works, huh?  No matter how high up you climb, there will always be another mountain taller up front, that you can’t get higher above, and so, do you, pursue getting over those mountain after mountain, after mountain, or, do you just, buckle down, and do your own parts well?
