The papers reported on how the students from the Welfare Club of three separate high schools managed to get about $50,000N.T. donated in the name of “Helping to Bring Education to Children in Distant Regions”, in reality, they’d used the money donated to go to an amusement park in Taichung instead, it was shocking to us all! What, has happened, to our students?
“Falsified kindness, scammed the money”, the method of scamming others had not be lessened one single bit, “scam artist rings” had always been active, what’s shocking was, that this time, the “scammers” are what’s considered as “naïve and simple minded students” to us all, what, is wrong, with our education today?
The Leadership Course provided by N.T.U. solicited the public for half a million dollars to sponsor their climbing trip had caused a ton of dissatisfactions from the society alra4edy, the president of the university said, that both the professors, as well as the students must examine their actions, that they should only publicly ask for funding for activities that “benefitted others”, if it’s a trip that the students or the professors wanted to take personally, then, they should NOT solicit funding from without. And this had happened, not far, from the dates of the moralistic reviews too.
The students who had asked for the funds already donated all the money they’d received, but, the negative feelings that the society now has for them are still here. Using the name of “charitable donations” to scam money, it’d made the world wonder, and, it will also hurt those children who are actually in need of the funding, and, what IF the donations are reduced?
I hope, that the schools can make an example of this case, to not just hand these students over to the justice department, but to give the students a chance, and the schools also needed to emphasize, as well as enforce, the education of the laws, as well as moral education too.
And so, we still have here, kids who just wanted to party but without the funding, and so, they’d cheated the public out of the public’s kindness, and, there are, more and more of these cases, and, what if, someone IS really in need of donation, but, because the world had gotten screwed, cheated, by these scam artists, that the world had lost faith in helping out? This, is the result of the students’ bad behaviors, and, it’s not just affecting the individuals who were involved, it’s affecting the entire world here!
